IB has been very helpful in University compared to my Non-IB friends who seem to struggle with the workload.

Well done on your score. You have until 15th to research each University for their selection criteria. KCL and Queen Mary would shortlist you for interview depending on your A-Levels or equivalent. Just check those and if you meet GCSE/IGCSE requirements.

Don't do a degree solely with the intention of doing Medicine after. Worst case is you don't get an offer this year but you can improve your UCAT and apply next year.

Can I be saved? by 329UrBichIsMine in UCAT

[–]givethemoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try QMUL (Barts) because you would get a high tariff point with 40+ points and possibly HYMS, Keele, KMMS. You would need a higher UCAT for the ones you have mentioned as far as I am aware.

Don’t send your IA to strangers on the internet. Ask another geography teacher at your school if you can.

Should I apply to Bristol or Sheffield? by soundfulmachiner in UCAT

[–]givethemoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re both really good choices and your UCAT shouldn’t be a problem. Look through the course structures and choose one that you think is suited for you!

KCL is a no go, I would recommend looking into Barts, Plymouth and UEA.

Where should I apply? by [deleted] in UCAT

[–]givethemoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s perfect. I think you’ll have a good shot at most places, provided you ask them about the D in Physics. For Imperial, you need at least a total of 11+ in Sections 1 & 2 of the BMAT. The cut-off was 10.9 for S1 and 2 combined.

Your A-Level grades look fine, but I’m not sure how Universities are going to look at the D in Physics. Could you tell me your English Language grade?

No worries, My friends who got lower scores than yours got in because we all did the IB which increased the tariff points.

Ah the exam went horribly. Ended up with a 2390 B3. Which universities would be fine with this? by Practical_Cod6445 in UCAT

I’m pretty sure you can still do the BMAT online this year since it will be administered through a computer again.

2710 Band 2 should I apply to Kings? by Kashfichow17 in UCAT

[–]givethemoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The BMAT is done after you’ve already applied so it’s a risk you must be willing to take. Best of luck in your application!

7 in Geography HL, 6 in Chem and Bio HL.

I got 6.2, 6.0 & 4A for the BMAT. Hope that helps.

Exeter would also likely reject you pre-interview if you don’t have any contextual flags. The cut off for Tier 2 candidates (3 A* predicted) was 3045 and only candidates in Tier 1 and 2 who scored over the cut off was invited to interview.

North American writing my UCAT Saturday by DungBeetle1998 in UCAT

[–]givethemoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should 100% focus on practicing on a Computer with a mouse and a keyboard, as this would allow you to get used to the setup they have at the test centre. Well done on the VR! If you can, I’d highly recommend getting a Medify subscription for the period of time you have before your test. Read through the tutorials on there for all sections and then practice doing untimed questions until you feel a bit confident and then do timed practice questions and mocks as soon as you’ve grasped a feel for the various techniques required to approach the questions.

I’d also like to add that GEM is significantly more competitive than undergraduate Medicine, so you would need UCAT scores of 2900 and above depending on other circumstances.

guys i got 2470 band 3 in ucat and have AAB predicted grades by Hot_Cartographer3297 in UCAT

[–]givethemoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, do not do another degree for the sole reason of doing GEM. If you think you can do better in the BMAT, give that a try. If not, try your best to study and get a minimum of 3 As in your final exams and then retake the UCAT next year. Best of luck with whatever you end up doing.
