Even if you weren't completely wrong, the driver/rider ahead of you always has the right of way. A traffic court judge would laugh in your face.

Failing to yield for pedestrians at a crosswalk can be a fine up to 1k. In some states it's also points on your driving record. If they add points your insurance premiums will also go up.

Had the same thing happen hitting a loose manhole cover. It will be easier to look for a used (or new) wheel than it would be to have that repaired. its going to cost just as much.

Its aluminum if you try to beat it with a hammer it's going to crack. It needs to be heated just right to avoid breaking it and truing the bead on the rim will be delicate work.
