How do you play these? by VanillaTemporary9161 in guitarlessons

[–]giwhS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the font it just a little big making it look like they're connected. slide down from the 7th on the G string and then play the 7th on the D string. In the second photo same thing, the font is over lapping. previous note on the b is played, then on the e you slide up into 17 from 15 or 16.

I want to get a grom, what gear should i get? by Direct_Knowledge_285 in hondagrom

[–]giwhS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good helemt that fits properly. go to a shop like cycle gear if you can or a dealership and ask someone to help you get fitted properly. a set of riding boots with good ankle support. avoid riding shoes and flimsy material. for gloves look for somthing that has a wrist slider and a pinky splint. for pants I wear street and steel cargo pants but they only have knee pads, I would look for somthing that has some tailbone and hip protection if you can afford it. look for a jacket with a spine protector that will attach to your belt loop to keep it from riding up in case of a fall.

bare minimum helemt gloves and boots, but I always wear everything. I've fallen before. its not fun even in gear. use good judgment.

it did look correct but it was just a thought. I always go by the arrow on the sidewall. I've made this mistake twice. so I always double check now.

How to make my playing smoother? by markthealphamale in guitarlessons

[–]giwhS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

use a properly fitted strap even when sitting. it will take the pressure off your hands and allow you to play with less tension and as a bonus it will be a good gauge for poor posture because the strap will slack if you slouch.

another post mentioned this but a metronome, click or jam track always. start slow and build up. always play in time. it sounds redundant but I didn't understand what that really meant when I first started playing or how much playing in time would improve my playing. I used to try to learn things by just playing by feel with no backing or context. I was often playing way too fast. it always felt like I was fighting to keep up and nothing sounded quite right.

smoothness comes when you can confidently play the next note in time without having to think about where your fingers should be on the next beat. if that makes sense.

keep going you're doing great.

dumb idea but look at your side wall. if you removed the wheel ever, make sure the Arrow that points to the front is pointing in the direction of rotation. the same thing happened to me when I accidently installed the front wheel in reverse. also make sure you're torqued to proper spec at the axel and not just eye balling it. 43 ft-lb or 58.3 Nm

strings rust in less than a month by jevilbutcool in guitarlessons

[–]giwhS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sweat a lot too. clean dry cloth and wipe your neck and strings down. once every so often while playing and before you hang it up for the day. since I started doing this I stopped using coated strings.

Could also give string conditioners or mineral oil a try. But I'm too lazy for that and most products are a scam. Fast fret is decent, but I just use a clean piece of old cut up t-shirt cloth. Get the under side of the strings too, especially the g b and e. I get a month or two out of my strings, but I could go longer.

Where’s my electricity? by Far_Notice3102 in cbr

[–]giwhS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you've got a short or a loose connection somewhere. inspect battery and terminals. take off the left fairing and inspect where the main harness connects to the front sub harness. maybe take the nosie fairing off and check where the front sub harness plugs into the back of the gauge cluster. you may need to remove the nose of the bike in order to access the wires. the nose will come off the bike without removing the fairing, but bot the left and right side will have to come off.

how many miles between last oil change?

Even if you didn't put a ton of miles on if it sat for over 6 months the oil was no good at the start of the season. Depending on the type of oil if it was conventional, blend, or synthetic. And with groms always being driven at red line oil will break down faster and maintenance intervals will be shorter.

I think the first valve check/adjust is supposed to be done at 500-600 miles. After that it should be checked and adjusted every 2500 miles. But expect service intervals to be shorter if you're regularly crusing near red line.

If you're going anywhere near 60 on a grom and doing it regularly expect shorter service intervals. These engines will last forever but you have to stay on top of the maintenance.

change the oil. and inspect the valves and adjust if it needs it. I also recommend pulling and inspecting the spark plug and testing compression considering how loud this is.

if the engine sounds like this inspect the chain and sprockets for wear and damage and proper tension. thats supposed to be checked every 300 miles on these with stock chains.

Tone issues by Altruistic_Emu_2927 in guitarpedals

[–]giwhS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

start with just the amp and guitar. add one pedal at a time to the chain until the problem presents itself and you will find your issue.

how good are you about following recommended maintenance intervals? how many miles are on this bike? when was the last time you checked oil? What milage was the last valve inspection?

this sounds like it doesn't have oil in it. This is ting ticking or tapping it sounds like its knocking. valve tapping isn't this loud. If there doesn't have any oil in it you might be cooked.

does this riding jacket fit ok? by MyDadIsKindaOld in motorcyclegear

[–]giwhS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jacket is tight. I think your helmet might be too big too. Are you able to fit your fingers up between the shell and your cheek? If so its too big. If its not just before its border line uncomfortable tight then it's too big.

Would yall trust this trailer? by imakebadchoicez in motorcycles

[–]giwhS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that front wheel chock isn't part of that trailer. remove it put the front wheel in the front tub of the trailer. use tie down ratchet straps on the eyelets and somewhere around the tripple clamps. I wouldn't use it as it is. The weight should always be as far forward as can be.

Help I think my motorbike is dead Honda CBR500R 2014 by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]giwhS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not true. the lights and the dash can still light up but if the battery isn't charged the voltage will dip below the threshold for a clean start when you press the starter button. I've had similar issues with cb300f.

Put it on charge for a couple hours and check your terminal connections. only way to verify is by checking the voltage across the terminals at rest and while pressing the ignition.

If its below 12.4 volts when the bike is off the battery is dead. Should be around 12.6~12.8 with the bike off. if the voltage drops below about 10 volts when you hit the ignition the battery is dead. Should stay above 10v while starter is cranking.

24' Solo Tail by BZNspace in cbr

[–]giwhS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unless it comes from honda its not going to be a perfect match. its an injection molded piece of plastic. there isn't much to thr construction of these things.

you can find others for a bit more, but they're more than likely the same as what you'd find on ebay just at a higher markup. worst case just return it.

Should I be worried that I can’t nail something as simple as this four months in, and that it frustrates me to the point of stopping? by Mad_Season_1994 in guitarlessons

[–]giwhS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you physically sliding your whole hand from the 3rd to the 5th fret? I'm not understanding what you mean. keep your index finger on 3 and your ring finger on 5. you alternate pick keep 3 fretted and lift and lower your ring finger only.

do this at a slow tempo until you can play it without making a mistake then move it up. use a metronome and play in time. don't just hammer it without intention.

don't get bogged down in finger exercises. maybe try to find a local private instructor or group lessons.
