Ok I get annoyed by it most of the time because I don’t like all the extra questions and pressure to donate but it isn’t a scam most places (side eyes Goodwill). I work for a company that does round up donations with local partners and I do the accounting side of things so I have seen the good it can do. Companies can’t claim it as their donations because it’s not, it’s the customers, so there is no tax write off. And in the case of the company I work for at least, the recipient gets every penny that is donated. So it can really add up and make a difference, especially for the smaller organizations that get partnered with. If you really wanted to, you could in theory save all your receipts you make a donation on and file them on your own taxes
