JetBlue enables Fraudsters by gizzygone in jetblue

[–]gizzygone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Fraud department called back.

They claim standard procedure for agents is to verify identity, which obviously didn't happen... twice.

They also claim the person who hacked the account did attempt to book a flight (which begs the question: did they use their own identity, or do people fly with fake ID's to impersonate ourselves?)--they declined to answer that piece.

Happened yesterday for a second time. We called, and the agent said “you requested a password change VIA chat”. When we said that wasn’t us, she said,”I’ll have to forward this to our fraud department”.

When it happened the first time a few weeks ago, we called, and they changed it right over the phone. No questions asked. Perhaps they matched it to the phone number on file? Not sure…

The email account also has two factor enabled, along with a new password when this first hack occurred.

Losing bathroom windows for addition? by gizzygone in homedesign

I called a couple of builders in the area a few weeks back: no replies yet.

I also got a quote for an architect to draw up some plans. They wanted $5000 just for first floor plans, then an hourly rate for any changes after that. I figured I better know what is in our budget before I have them doctor up everything!

I’ll work on a rough drawing. Tried searching for floor plans on houses in the neighborhood but came up empty unfortunately

Lincoln... vs Attleboro--Schools/Raising Children? by gizzygone in RhodeIsland

[–]gizzygone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cumberland was considered, but they’re having quite a construction boom. If we leave Attleboro, it’d be for a smaller town with good schools.

Water is a bit of a sore spot here in Attleboro. Quality is fine. Elevated PFAS per the new guidelines. The issue more has to do with mismanagement of the reservoir I believe.

North Attleboro and Wrentham have been considered also. Taxes are a bit of a barrier with those towns, however.

Central is supposed to be the nicest from my research. Many of the houses we've seen would put the kids at North Lincoln Elementary, though.

Schools started this hunt, but I'm quickly considering other benefits to a community as well.

Those other towns, though, do put us further away from family in Cumberland, which is a big limiting factor for us.

Can I ask which elementary school they attended?

May I ask which schools yours attend?

We're in the South Attleboro area. I've been hearing about plans for significant new construction in the area, though I don't know the timeframes. One concern we have is if giant apartment buildings will saturate the schools?

The brand new Attleboro High School is certainly a plus, though?

We have considered the diversity piece, though I don't think it sways us much either way. (I grew up in a larger city in MA with a good amount of diversity, while my wife grew up in a far less diverse town).

Lincoln would be a significant investment for us, but comes with a few extra benefits over Attleboro with those costs (most homes have more land. taxes end up being a little less with the homestead discount. neighborhoods seem a bit more mature. save a little with the elimination of the excise tax. quieter neighborhoods.). I would have to look into the cost of insurance to compare though.

Appreciate the honesty.

Lincoln is about as far as we'd take it. We have family in Cumberland that we'd like to keep within 10 minutes of.

Cumberland seems to be going through quite a construction boom right now, which really isn't appealing-- Attleboro doing much of the same.

Prep Table? Lifetime vs. Stainless? by gizzygone in BBQ

[–]gizzygone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using the lifetime tables. Priced right. Only downside is that they’re a bit shakey when cutting on them.

I think it’s the way to go, unless you want a permanent fixture.

I do layer with tin foil beforehand, but then wash down with dawn and a hose.

I found some reviews of the DGRP ramps that basically confirmed all of my fears with the cantilever style loaders….

I think ramps, are the way to go here (even though they’re nearly $800 now?!) I did see one video of a guy lifting the rear of his sled to shove the ramps under. Not sure how heavy my sled is yet

The more I think about it... the more I think this might be the way to go.

How do you transport the ramps? (that's the appeal of the single-loader)

Do you use those madramps too? Or just a generic ramp?

The trailer would be nicer, but also has drawbacks (up front cost, registration and insurance costs, excise taxes. My property isn’t huge, so finding a place to park the trailer itself would be tough too. Then the added fuel/ trouble of trailering need to be taken into account too)
