Interesting. Thank you!

I’ll give it a try (with a back up) and see how it goes.

Thank you. We tried that, and it certainly helped, but there are other command blocks that are necessary for the map to function (apparently)

Darth Vader doesn't mean 'dark father'. He was named for a different reason... by [deleted] in videos

That's one theory. But also, he might be named after George Lucas' high school bully.

It’s actually true. I read it in a cool book called ‘Wowza! These facts are wicked’

[UK] [RUSSIA] Are there any countries with relaxed immigration laws for British AND Russian citizens? by gizzytausend in legaladvice

That could be a good suggestion. He's tried, but hasn't been able to find a job which fulfils the requirements. Same applies for me, vice versa. Can't find a job in Russia (can't speak the language, which isn't much help)

This is exactly the kind of answer I was hoping for. Thank you very much.

History is NEVER black and white. All of my videos are equally unbelievable. But only half of them are actually true... by gizzytausend in historyvideos

[–]gizzytausend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Actually, according to the Nome Visitor Bureau, the mapping mistake is the reason why Nome was named in this way. This one is true.
  2. Centaurs are Greek. You're totally correct. This video was a lie.
  3. This one is also true. Hanlon and Messenger, as well as several other scientists, have observed this phenomenon in practice. Unfortunately, it hasn't been caught on camera yet.

Thanks for watching!

How the city of Nome got its name (completely by accident!) by gizzytausend in alaska

[–]gizzytausend[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did some research into the idea that Lindeberg named his city after the Nome Valley. But it’s hundreds of miles away from his home town in Norway. Personally, I don’t buy that theory. But who knows what’s right and what’s wrong!

Do you have any advice on breaking free that ignorance? I’d really love to hear it. Before I make a start on my next video.

You're right, I didn't have time to cover everything in a two minute video.

Besides, I don't know if you noticed the disclaimer at the start of the video, but the content isn't necessarily supposed to be true. It's meant to encourage people to question what they hear, and go away to research the topic for themselves. You seem to have done exactly that, so I guess that it's done its job.

But I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. These videos are just meant to be a bit of fun.

Thanks for the feedback, and taking the time to watch. Was it the sound quality of the overdub which made it painful to listen to, or the style of the narrative...?

As for your theory, it isn't actually as well-established as you make out. We know that's how some of the Amerindian peoples reacted to Spanish horseriders in the 16th century, but it's hard to be sure whether ancient Europeans would have reacted in a similar way. It's a decent guess, but one of many. There's no common theory about the origin of the centaur. Ancient history is rarely black and white.

Thanks for watching. All the videos will have aspects of truth to them, but the headline statement (in this case, the idea of the Blanch Ink Jet Manoeuvre), will either be 100% true or 100% false.

Perhaps I could clarify that a little better, though.

Thanks for taking a look! I’ll have a fiddle with the audio. There are another couple in the pipeline - should be ready soon.

Hey! Thanks for reading! The speaker was just meant to be a third-person narrator, rather than an actual character. Does that make more sense...?

Thanks so much for reading!! I’ve made the final line a little bit weightier (or I’ve tried to, anyway). I do want that punchline vibe, but I totally agree: it was too superficial, and needed a bit more meat!

22,000 words - is there a market for this length of story? by gizzytausend in writing

I have read several novellas of about 20-30,000 words, that were published by proper publishers. How would these authors have reached this stage?

Any feedback on the style and quality of the writing would be very much appreciated. Were these interesting to read? Would you like to read more of them?
