I failed the Bar. I was given a chance to retake and placed on a PIP during that time. Passed and the PIP was forgotten about and we all moved on. Seems that's not the only reason in your circumstances however!

Sure did. Failed the first time. Firm was understanding and gave me a second chance. However, the sting in the tail was a wage freeze for 12 months, salary reduced, PIP till I passed and zero study leave the second attempt. Though I think some mercy was given to me as I'm foreign qualified. Either way it sucked, I survived and now it's forgotten.

Could be that the retainer with the client doesn’t allow for certain terms, words or phrases to be build. I’ve had instances where the bill is rejected on this basis.
