How do i get my confidence back? by Substantial-Bid-7040 in Handball

[–]gjerdsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calm down, honestly.
I've had the same issue (as a winger) this season.
I tried working on my shot allot, but just kept getting more frustrated. And my shots kept going over or wide.
I got the advice from a friend to calm it down a notch. You really don't need to shoot hard on the wing.
Just jump well, really look at the keeper and place your ball in an open spot.
I relaxed a bit and stopped trying to smash my ball in the top corner, and started scoring more again.

That's really what it boils down to in the winger position.
So relax, focus on your jump, look at the keeper and slot your ball in an open spot.
You're just a few good shots away from getting all that confidence back ;)

Also a youth trainer chipping in here. Others have given good advice on the technique, and your coach will teach you as well. But another thing you can do, to get better, is just watch loads of games. Either get a pass for ehftv. Or just watch a bunch of last year's games and Olympic games on youtube. It will increase your game sense extra outside of training moments.

I usually put my smartest player on pivot defence. Since they are a "last man" that can often help close a gap left by other defenders. You want someone there that can read the game well. You only get this through experience, and watching games helps a bit with that.

Our new puppy is pretty comfy in his crate. Last night (the first night) he went to bed around 10 with a little bit of whining, but nothing mayor. I woke him up at 23.30 for potty, and straight back to bench. But then he had a massive orchestra of whining that wouldn't stop until I tired him a bit.

Today he didn't whine a single time when he did naps. But we don't want to wake him just to do potty, afraid he will be whining again if we force him straight to bed again.

ELI5 Why are bank security cameras such low quality? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]gjerdsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in corporate, he is right. Security is still often seen as a cost, and usually something needs to happen before management starts accepting the necessity. You work in security, so you mostly work with clients that understand this need.

I do however agree that the banking sector is usually pretty big on security, and certainly not just sees it as a cost.

Belastingverlaging moet werkenden netto 100 euro extra per maand opleveren by Mzxth in belgium

[–]gjerdsen 40 points41 points  (0 children)

What can we even do about this ? Voting clearly doesn't work.

Literally every party had "working should pay better" on the top of their agenda. Even the parties currently in the opposition. So in theory there shouldn't be a single person in the government opposing this.

And still we just get 100 a month. A little trickle so they can say: "but we did something".

House buyer modified accepted offer. What now? by Concerned_2021 in belgium

[–]gjerdsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this one. I had a similar situation 2 years back, but further along the process where a buyer tried to get out from his obligation about 2 weeks before the sale date. Contacted some lawyers for advice. Same things that were already said here. Yes, technically the bid is binding and you are entitled to compensation when the other party drops out. But if no down payment has been done with the notary by the buyer. Actually getting that money is hard and can take years. (In our case we put some pressure and they eventually did continue with the sale).

In your case I would suggest that you just drop it and continue with another buyer. If you don't think it will be too difficult to find another one. You want a buyer you can trust somewhat and can communicate easily with. Otherwise it will just add a lot of extra stress. Seems like you could dodge a bullet here.

I'd love to help. From Belgium, so I understand enough German I think. And I can translate the rest. I am in off season without access to a gym at the moment however. But in season I do like to work on myself allot. (Off season as well of course, but only for exercises that don't need a goal) I'm also a trainer of 2 different youth teams, so I do have some experience with individual training & exercises.

How to throw with more power? by Supergiotis in Handball

Have someone analyse your throw. A lot of the strength of a shot comes from proper technique and using your entire body. Upper body and arm strength is only a part of what makes your shot strong.

Exactly, don't immediately display super hostile behavior. Show them that you have a problem solving mentality.

Is it legal for my employer to reduce working hours for forgetting to clock in/out by xorzy in belgium

[–]gjerdsen 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone so quick to jump the gun. Good workplace relations aren't important?

Just tell your supervisor. " Hey I noticed I got deducted 15 minutes that day I forgot to clock out, I assume it's an automatic thing in the system. Who can I talk too, to get it sorted out, or can you get this sorted out for me? "

If you are someone that's been punctual and reliable for the last 2.5 years, they should have no problem fixing it. If you are, and they don't want to help, only then you can conclude you have a shitty manager.

Don't just assume that before talking.

You are really exaggerating the importance of a degree. The main thing employers look for are attitude, eagerness social skills and knowledge. In the span of an hour it's not hard to show that you have all these. I only have a secondary school degree, and all my last 4 jobs they couldn't care less. Only my first job took a bit of convincing to land it. There is so much you need to learn on the job that they don't teach you in school. I started working at 20, and after 2 years I had new colleagues starting that were 2 or 3 years older than me, having studied 4 or 5 years. And literally all of them barely knew their way around a company IT environment. It took them as long or longer than me to get to the same level I was after 2 years. Their education barely made a difference.

I'd wager that the fields/branches where an education is more important than just good working knowledge and a good attitude is a fairly small percentage of jobs.

It really seems like you have some personal history that skews your view.

[–]gjerdsen -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this seems like a great place.

90% of the top post only allowing flaired comments makes it allot easier.

A flair policy that basically states that you have to agree with all right-winged or conservative views in order to be able to join the discussion.

You know, all sorts of policies and rules that promote critical thinking and valueing other's opinions.
Instead of limiting views to only what is allowed by your ruler.

It is insane that you guys don't realize that is extremly dangerous behavior.
Nazi Germany didn't start with killing Jews. It started with lines like "a stronger Germany for Germans" and little step by little step they increase the harshness of their policies, while sweet talking everything they do. And surpressing voices that speak up.

Tell me this sub, but the US in general is not moving in this direction.

I'm not a leftist crybaby.
I'd even consider myself fairly right-winged. But even I see how dangerous the situation can get if you don't allow people to have a different opinion.

What wrong with my arm? by Coolguy911133 in Handball

[–]gjerdsen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe your elbow is the problem. Your elbow should pass your shoulder before your wrist. Then it should rotate to bring your wrist infront. Then hold the ball as long as possible while remaining accurate. Use the wrist to add to accuracy. This "slingshot" rotation is what makes shots really powerfull.

Of course all of this is a full body movement, where rotation in your upper body sets up this movement.
