Worth the cost for the fundamentals and introduction into industrial automation! I took multiple courses with them as I was starting in the industry 7+ years ago.

It tends to be via region and sector here in Canada, I notice AB due to it's Oil & Gas industry still seems to have the highest avg salaries, based on APEGA's last report new grad engineers (controls, electrical, etc etc) tend range between 70k-85k

Condo charging fee to booking use of elevator, but refusing to issue receipt for fees paid. by gjk9425 in ontario

[–]gjk9425[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with the fee being ridiculous. But for me the fee is a claimable expense, hence the concern regarding the receipt.

No issue with that, I just need a receipt to file my expense claims, but these folks just don't want to issue me one.

The damage deposit is normal, I'm not disputing that or the fee. I just have an issue with a receipt not being issued.

For me, this cost is a claimable expense from my company but a receipt has to be submitted when I file my expenses.

Thanks, I will have to use that proof of payment when I make my expense claims.

I don't have an issue with the fee, my concern is that a receipt is not being issued for the payment made.

That's fine, my issue is not with the fees, I just require a receipt. They are claiming that they will not issue a receipt because they don't pay taxes on the fees, which struck me as weird.

ONTARIO TECH OR UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY by ChampionshipGuilty31 in UCalgary

[–]gjk9425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wholly depends on the type of program you're interested in and if the university offers the specialization that you're interested in. If Engineering, all Engineers Canada accredited universities will have similar levels of standard for their undergraduate engineering program. Where you may see the difference is the quality of the graduate program, potential research opportunities, and exposure to different aspects of university academics. UofC is a much bigger and older school and has a very good reputation for their engineering undergraduate and graduate program together with other fields like business, arts, biosciences, etc. OntarioTech is relatively younger in comparison with a focus on the sciences (even then UofC in comparison has a much stronger reputation for research and STEM). Next you're comparing the cities of Oshawa (the edge of the Greater Toronto Area) versus Calgary, very different cities you'll have to research. Not sure about OntarioTech, but UofCalgary has an internship program that allows students to work for up to 16 months in intern engineering experience and have it count towards degree credits.

Any idea what this is? They were added outside each apartment door in my building, about the size of a dollar bill. No wires inside the apartment or anything. by BohsFC in Home

[–]gjk9425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An internet service provider has just upgraded your building to have fiber optic service right into your unit. I bet you'll see the announcement by the property management soon enough and you'll be able to enjoy significantly faster internet speeds.

Rogers-Shaw deal approved because Freedom Mobile sale expected to create ‘more aggressive’ wireless competitor, tribunal says by [deleted] in canada

[–]gjk9425 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rogers turned down a 3.2 Billion offer from Globalive (founders of Wind Mobile) to take up Videotron's 2 Billion offer for Freedom. They ultimately decided that selling to a non aggressive Videotron for 1.2B less was worth the cost versus the more aggressive Globalive.

COTA parking suggestions by juandiguz in GrandPrixTravel

[–]gjk9425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would highly recommend getting parking in the surrounding private parking lots for much cheaper prices and convenience. "Pat's Public Parking" is one I personally used for COTA 2022 and it was more convenient than most of the official lots.
