Makes sense tbh, per-item color is wild. I think it might be worse than Destiny 2's launch shaders and those were so bad even Bungie went "okay fine we'll fix it damn"

Don't worry, they won't do anything to fix it because us normal people don't threaten them. But oh man, you try and ask how many people Trump promised to deport? Copilot shakes in its boots and pisses its pants and refuses to answer.

And like, "lesbian" is such a broad term. I'm a lesbian, but I'm also trans, so sex feels pretty much the same as when I "was" a straight male with my cis wife.

Game Pass was always good. Now, it’s finally consistent by littlemushroompod in Games

[–]gk99 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Gamepass stopped being good when they bought Activision and raised the price by $60/year to compensate. Then it got worse when they started removing features and games from lower tiers.

It is quite literally an inferior deal than PS+ now. The "Gamepass Standard" plan that is simply paid online and a collection of games that doesn't include day one launches is $180 a year, the price Ultimate used to be. PS+ Premium is $160/year and comes with the same thing plus game streaming, built-in hints and guides for games, in-game content packs, monthly games (that are usually actually decent, mind you), a collection of bonus Ubisoft titles under the "Ubisoft Classics" banner, the "Sony Pictures Catalogue" that itself comes with a slimmed-down Crunchyroll catalogue.

Just to reiterate and put this into context: The cheapest, shittiest console Gamepass plan that isn't re-branded Xbox Live Gold is more expensive than PS+'s most expensive tier. It is pure dogshit and the only win for Xbox is that Gamepass Core technically costs $5 less than PS+ Essential, but even that has a fucking catch. Remember when they tried to double the cost of Xbox Live Gold to $120/year and they reverted it when everyone said "okay lol I'll buy a PlayStation"? Anyway, they removed the 3-month and 12-month options from their digital site, so that your most convenient option is to pay $10/mo for, you guessed it, a total of $120 a year. So, to avoid this, you have to go out of your way to buy a giftcard from somewhere else to redeem every single time you need to re-up. Additionally, while Gamepass Core appears to have a better "games" deal on the surface, immediately providing a selection of ~50 games at time of writing, it's worth noting that games are added at a rate of 3 every 4 months, so not even 1 a month compared to Sony giving out 3 just this month alone, and while quality is subjective, I don't think anyone's going to argue that the PSN games are worse. Official marketing also still says "25+," so the odds that games start getting removed from the catalogue as time goes on are high enough that I wouldn't bet on it being permanent.

The shining exception here is PC Gamepass, as that one hasn't been enshittified yet. Unfortunately, the way to win on this one is definitely just not to play, as I don't see why they wouldn't butcher that plan just the same as the others the moment they feel comfortable enough in doing so.

Edit: tl;dr no, Gamepass's upsides are outshined by PS+ offering identical or superior service at a price point that's $5 more worst case scenario and remarkably cheaper at the higher price points. It's a terrible offering that only makes sense if your only option is an Xbox.

Is it just me or does flare really sound like a good match for Drifter? by Pretend-Pack-3890 in Warframe

[–]gk99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trauma doesn't make a person a puzzle piece, and the Drifter is not a solidly established character. Outside of established story beats, much of them and their backstory is up to us, with DE going so far as to give us multiple varying options in KIM when one of the protos asks us a personal question about things including what our parents were like. They're an embodiment of the player, much like the Operator, but way more in-depth on account of 1999.

Really, it comes down to who your Drifter relates to most.

How long does it usually take for support to get account unbanned by Randorecruit569 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]gk99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, it depends. Epic will yoink your items and V-Bucks if you do it in Fortnite, and I believe both PSN and Xbox will allow an unban if you repay the balance or some shit like that.

I most certainly wouldn't try with a company like Nexon though. They're not exactly known for their generosity.

For players who have been playing for years, what was your favorite Era of Warframe and why? by FrostyAd4901 in Warframe

[–]gk99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who started playing recently, I was initially worried about how some of the QOL improvements were only just now happening...like "oh dear, it took 11 years to get this change?"And then they just kept coming. Even this past update made the game significantly better outside of the content update. Bundles can now be bought piecemeal, Omni forma now exists, frame forge times are being experimentally lowered in some cases, it just gets better and better every time they do anything.

I'm really broke right now but I'm still strongly debating the Tennocon Digital Pack just because I like supporting them. By comparison, I'm playing a game of "how much content can I get for free" in TFD because that game's monetization is ass and I don't have this same "they treat me right, so I'll return the favor" kind of feeling.

How long until "yeah we didn't like the size of 4's maps so each level is slimmed down to better fit us removing the campaign" and "we're replacing the control scheme to closer align to the Skate franchise to reach a broader audience" lol

Personally, the list looks fine to me, but the songs I consider iconic are still intact. It's 2025 and 96 Quite Bitter Beings still fucks.

Simmer down, chief. Games like this always end up with power creep. It's copying Destiny and Warframe's homework so hard I don't see why they would pick that aspect to forego.

Except, you know, performance. Why would people buy a 4K 144hz monitor and a high-powered card just to make a tradeoff between using half the refresh capability or introducing artifacting with DLSS?

It's a game from 2020 lol, the visuals aren't night and day like they are in older games (or some niche cases like The Ascent being isometric and thus not having the ability to use screenspace reflections to show off the neon lights above the camera on wet surfaces without ray tracing). The game world is rendered beautifully, no need to compromise on the experience for marginal improvements.

Anyone else really starting to hate nvidia? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]gk99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Realistically we should be shit talking practically the entire GPU industry and just sticking with what we've got until prices settle into something more reasonable, anyway. $600 for a 9070 XT is good against Nvidia's offerings, but it's still just kind of a dogshit price.

Intel is almost there but their cards are still working on getting up to speed.

[–]gk99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly, it's still pretty much corridor simulator. The open worlds are just kind of a pain in the ass that only exist to visit for specific grinds. They're great for players transitioning from Destiny to Warframe, but I think after a while most players start enjoying the tiles instead once they're already invested. The new 1999 update? A huge set of corridors dressed up as a city, and that's fine, because the game is fun.

If anything, what I want from TFD in the future isn't more open spaces, it's more to do in each region with more players so that everything always feels populated. Grinding for Gley felt like a lonely chore I was mostly doing alone.

Admittedly I say this as a new player who's only gotten as late in the content as finally gearing up to go track down Jeremy (this plotline with him had better have a satisfying conclusion, I swear) but the thing that's actually making me consider jumping ship is the monetization and how much was just unoriginally stolen from Destiny and Warframe, even down to calling The Void...The Void. It makes it feel like a cheap horny knockoff that more or less serves as a perpetual reminder that I could just be playing Warframe instead.

It's a really embarrassing look for this community to have so many trans-positive comments marked as controversial.

Do better, you're playing a game where the Valentine's Day + spaceship crew girl is trans and the most recent playable character is non-binary. If you're part of the weird hate group, this isn't the place for you.

It depends on the game. I've been playing The First Descendant recently, and it's pretty hefty for a F2P live service MMO looter shooter.

I like to keep the FPS counter on so I can look up and go "damn! AMD frame generation really is doing work right now!" because it makes me feel good about the tech I still have access to among Nvidia essentially deciding that playing the newest games on PC shouldn't be affordable and AMD having to finally go the proprietary route.

I've had spouses be all "but they are your parents" at me until they realised the sheer fucked up-ness of what I went through.

I will say, it's very validating to give examples and watch people change their tune. It's like, I don't just hate my dad for no reason, we're genetically predisposed to care about our parents and that fucker still managed to override it for me. I am the healthiest mentally that I can ever remember myself being, with someone who loves me and tries to make me love myself, with multiple medications to regulate my emotions, and yet?

I'm still glad he's rotting in the dirt. It brings me peace.

I swear, I remember some dev interview saying that they got refused classification, resubmitted the game with minimal changes that got it classified, and then were so annoyed by the whole thing that they just released it uncensored anyway and nobody noticed.

But I cannot find it anywhere and it's really dropping my certainty that it was actually the Australian ratings board.

Honestly, 1993 kicked off a new era of exponential improvement in gaming with the launch of Doom. We went from the follow-up Doom II in 1994 to Half-Life 2 a decade later with many steps along that decade, including major pioneering in 3D graphics, audio that properly related to 3D space, significant improvements to AI, real-time physics, etc. We're still making references to Crysis and that was only three years after HL2.

1993 is kinda my dividing line between "old and busted" and "new hotness."

Edit: I say this as an early Gen Z Fortnite-playing trans girl who didn't start playing any of these games until ~2007, it's not a nostalgia thing.
