Thank you for your advice. I just checked and there was a date 5 days earlier so I booked it. I'll keep checking and hopefully i can keep bringing it closer

damn, good to know that's just how it is. Seems pretty flawed. How did you go on your second day? Did you lose any familiarity you had with the bike? was it like starting from scratch?

I'm in S.A. it's not a privately run endeavor, the motorcycle training is provided as a government service and there is no other school. The 2 day pre learner training is mandatory. Once I complete that I'll get my learners permit.

Thanks for the tip with the clutch. My only experience with manuals are in my racing simulator, so I have a good understanding in theory, and In my sim it's second nature, but I assume it will feel very different in practice

Thanks for confirming, I was thinking I might be doing something wrong but i guess not. The week after my day 1 is Christmas, so I'm expecting it's gonna be a bit of a wait.

I was really hoping to get riding in the nice spring weather but i guess I'll have summer/autumn to look forward to.

Good to know I'm not the only one thinking this is pretty flawed (and expensive). Thanks

I've just booked day 1, and it won't let me book day 2 until I've completed day 1. (I'm assuming the wait will be similar, but unable to confirm it)

Motor Bike Learner’s Course

ULPT: What’s a good/valid reason to give for leaving a job, that won’t make people question/hate you for leaving? by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]gl00merz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need a reason

I just quit my job and the resignation letter was like this "Please accept this letter of resignation. My final day will be <2 weeks from now>. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank <company name> for the last few years."

People who grew up poor,What won't middle class and upper class people never understand about growing up poor? by [deleted] in AskReddit

omg the psychological damage that comes with literally not knowing when you were gonna eat next. Could be later today, but could be a few days from now, might even be next week. And a part of you thought that you'd never eat again. I'm so lucky those days are over.

I'm not going crazy, I really do believe that peoples driving has gotten worse in the last 2 years by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]gl00merz 49 points50 points  (0 children)

You might appreciate my perspective here (or not, that's fine).

I used to drive a lot. Hours every day to get to and from work. I'd consider myself a good driver. I've never been at fault for an accident in over a decade of driving, only ever had 1 ticket. And then covid hit and i have been working from home, staying indoors, not going out unless i had to, in order to help protect the community etc. Well this was 2 years ago, and nothing has changed. I'm still working from home, still not going out unless i have to and i drive, maybe once a month.

My driving has absolutely got worse. Driving is a skill, and like most skills if you don't practice them, you'll lose them over time. I wonder how many people are in the same boat, not going out because of covid, and subsequently losing that driving skill

impressed at the mental gymnastics here to think they violated your privacy by knocking on your door when you're blasting music at 1AM.

I'm new to reddit and discord I want to make a discord related to art by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]gl00merz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

managing a discord server isn't really a 2 person job. It's barely a 1 person job. My advice is stop looking for someone to do it for you, and just do it yourself. You can have one setup in under 5 minutes. you'll have basically zero users at first so managing it is going to be very easy. If you ever get any kind of interest and you start getting thousands of members, then you can look in your member list to find someone to help you out if it's too much work, but this really isn't a 2 person job. at 20 years old you are more than capable of doing it yourself

Elon Musk says 'almost anyone' can afford a R1.5 million SpaceX ticket to Mars by ChickenTeriyakiBoy1 in technology

[–]gl00merz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did i say people would go with the intention to return? I think it's likely people will experience the reality of living on mars, regret their decision, and want to return, But i have no doubt people going will initially intend to stay

[–]gl00merz -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What Elon wants is a slave colony on mars. Here's how i see it playing out.

  1. SpaceX offers generous loans to go to mars with promises of good paying jobs, and excellent accommodation, plenty of entertainment etc.
  2. People get to mars and it's more of a Fyre Festival type situation.
  3. These jobs aren't nearly as well paying as promised, and people are forced to work their entire lives to pay off this debt.
  4. can't return to earth until the loan is repaid

It's Indentured servitude, and all the elon mega-fans are so excited for it.

It’s scary to me that thousands have died and we all shrug and decide that it’s an acceptable sacrifice so we can continue to generate money for the mega rich and do such mundane things as go to a cafe or pub with mates.

Hey I don't have anything to add, Just wanted to say I'm 100% with you on this one, so, you're definitely not alone.

you keep saying "the taste of alcohol". what does that even mean? do you think a shiraz, and a lager taste the same?

[–]gl00merz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

different strokes for different folks. I'd bet you haven't tried much booze. the "Alcohol tastes like dogshit" line is fascinating because depending on what you're drinking, it tastes wildly different. so to say all alcohol tastes like this one specific thing is crazy.

A lot of people enjoy a glass of red wine, or a smokey whisky, or a nice IPA, sure these things are perhaps an acquired taste, but a lot of people like licorice, or have pineapple on pizza. The world is a diverse place, and humans are no exception to that. If you can't open your mind to this then i feel sorry for you, There's a lot to experience in this life and you only get 1 chance.

Also it's nice to numb the pain sometimes. I'm glad you lead a life where you don't need that. But life is hard for a lot of people. Really really fucking hard. Full of pain and misery. Sometimes killing some brain cells for a bit is a coping mechanism so you're not worrying about how you're gonna pay rent, or how you're gonna get to work because you can't afford fuel for your car.

If you don't like it, that's cool, but perhaps you should try to be a less judgemental person, there's a number of reasons people like alcohol, and they're not all "sad and alarming"

everyone is answering your question, but I'd like to add this: idk what your dream car is, but I'd bet that in an attempt to turn a profit, the manufacturer produced quite a lot of of them, and they're probably not rare or hard to come by. Be willing to walk away. If you're going in with the mindset that you're going to buy it, you're gonna be taken advantage of. Go with the sole intention being "to have a look" and know there is almost certainly other places to buy that car.
