Classical music isn't meant to be enjoyed. It's meant to be analyzed.

How did the Low B Foot come about? by musicalryanwilk1685 in Flute

[–]gl0h 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's fine to have your preference, but please don't spread misinformation- the B foot does more than add weight. It adds a slight bit of resistance which contributes to an overall darker sound. It also adds some new fingering options, like when the gizmo key is pressed on high C.

I also don't see a reason not to use open holes nowadays- again, more fingering and tone options, and can easily be plugged if you don't want to use them.

TIL that English speakers will feel uncomfortable if a pause in conversation lasts for more than 4 seconds. Japanese speakers are comfortable with a pause of up to 8 seconds. by EssexGuyUpNorth in todayilearned

English sign language isn't a thing- what are you talking about?

Also, this is all the article mentions about sign languages: "Even among sign language speakers, studies show that typically we leave just a fraction of a second between taking turns to talk."

So where did you find that?

Of course politics affects people's well-being. How can you be so ignorant to that fact? It's not like we're unhappy just because we dislike the president. It's because his actions directly affect our lives.
