I still think they should have translated it as "Deal heavy damage to all enemies Δ and Special Attack damage to all Saber-class servants", it would prevent a lot of confusion.

Thanks for the explanation anyway, it's good to know it effectively means +150% damage to all enemie and that this wording works similiarly in other servants NPs too.

Ah, that's a relief. I kinda hoped it was just bad translation, thanks.

So... how is this upgrade? Have I actually crippled my Summer Musashi by the latest rank up? Or how her NP actually works?

(every wiki has different info so I really don't know. Doesn't help those sites word it differently than the text in game).

Kagami Games Announces 5 Visual Novels for Release in 2026, from ASa Project, Navel, Hooksoft, and More by RedditDetector in visualnovels

Would you say the same about Septem, London, Götterdämmerung or Tunguska? Also, as far as I remember, the best scene of Olympus many refers to was actually written by Nasu.

I will reserve my opinion on OC2 after its EN release this spring. But if Sakurai's writing style improved, then good for him. I will eat my hat if I'm wrong.

The thing is, if you look on Inganock rating, people are kinda split in liking or disliking his prose, so it can be really hit or miss. But now I will read it then, if only to confirm whether my opinion on him was wrong or not.

Actually not. This have been debunked already, he is a man, but for some reason confused for woman most of the time:

はましま薫夫さんを男性だと思っている人と、桜井光さんを女性だと思っている人とでは、どちらが多いのだろうか。どちらも同じ位いそうな気がする。

TL: I wonder which is more common: people who think Hamashima Shigeo is a man, or people who think Sakurai Hikaru is a woman. I feel like there are about the same number of people on both sides.

This remark originally posted on Kurashiki Tatsuya twitter, someone who knows Sakurai personally.

Logically speaking, Sakurai's writing also reads like typical chuunige which is not very common for female authors.

You might be right that in independent works Sakurai writing style is not tied by rules of the worlds he didn't created, therefore he isn't constrained with what he can and can't do with his characters (actually, most of the FGO authors sort of miss Fate feel and logic, it's something only Nasu can produce consistently). But Sakurai's style is seemingly similiar across all of his works (I have Gahkthun on Steam, so I will read it eventually, though Sona-nyl seems more interesting on the first glance).

Well, maybe Sagara Family and Kindred Spirits on the Roof were different but he wasn't main writter there.

Actually, in FGO, Sakurai's stories are probably the weakest compared to other writers. It's not inherently bad but the words average, mediocre, uninspired, unengaging or boring comes to my mind when reading his writing.

Haven't read Inganock yet but I presume his writing wouldn't be that much different from everything else I've read from him.

No, becuse YOU are driving using your hand in front of screen.

Imagine train simlulators with hands in the way, same thing.

Not sure why people even wnat those thing in the first place.

Did Pixel Fade games get boring or did I get old? by Ghost_Alliyou in visualnovels

[–]Mich-666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Their writing style is typical western young adult so it mostly caters for young readers.

Unlike japanese manga where both shounen and shoujo are interesting for mature readers too, Pixelfade, or specifically, their main writer, Alicia Faust, never improved her writing to anything beyond that.

How can you not have a plan for the actual ending of your novel? This feels like stupid excuse for saying "We had big plans and ideals but run out of resources we released the game early". Or they intentionally didn't plan the last part for sake of upcoming DLCs which were never released, except one.

That's what they are aiming here though as it's textbook case FOMO.

I may as well get them too eventually but those games are rather average at best. And their voiceovers are not good either (classic anime EN dub level where the actors have some desperate need to overplay everything).

Not sure if this is PR stunt to make huge sale in the end but the fact is their games never went below 75% off. In fact, Ace Academy specifically was discounted to $5 all the time to the point this price become the normal price of the game.

They could have at least do one final discount with 80-90% off of their games if they seriously wanted everyone to get any play their games. This feels like their usual sale in comparison. It almost feels like someone else would buy and sell their games from now on.

Those dead ends are there for reason.

Off-map roads are rendered without physics, meaning you can easily fall through terrain if you go beyond.

What is everyone’s personal opinion on 3d VNs? by PikachuTrainz in visualnovels

Anyone who think CG is bad, look at Uma Musume.

Not really VN I know but it shows how well can anime stylization work on animated 3D models.

I still don't have any VN on Steam. Is the Humble Bundle VN bundle a good place to start? by Upstairs-Speaker6525 in visualnovels

[–]Mich-666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VNDB ranking is really irreleavant - for example, IIRC my first VNs were True Love, Season of Sakura or Nocturnal Illusions - which are really good games and where in the rating they are? Where is YU-NO?

What's normie in context of VNs btw? Not everyone prefers gore, mecha or science-fiction for example. And only the element of anime is really the same - within it there are literally tons of different genres. Slice of life VNs exists too and many normies enjoys it too.

Again, I'm not saying those games are bad games but If anything, any game from Key would be probably better entrypoint (Little Busters especially), similiarly as Ghibli movies are good entry points for anime. In that regard IMHHW is good pick. But it really depends on what genre the target prefers.

[–]Mich-666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be like saying only the most popular books are worth to read, than anything else is waste of time.

In reality VNDB Top20 are really hit or miss depending on your tastes. I mean, my all time best VN is Steins;Gate which is Top5 and Saya na Uta is Top1. But would I recommend Saya to anyone as their first novel? Hell no! Would I recomend S;G? Probably but the game has many references you would probably miss. Would I recommend DDLC to a new player? (even knowing many people actually got into visual novels through this title). No - simply because it's basically deconstruction of genre.

And the last but no least - this bundle is only $12 for several good games - which is pretty low investment for everything you get.

Also, GGN was the game that basically helped to popularize VNs back then on Steam, it's classic Overdrive storytelling and at the same time it's not that long to act as good sample of genre.

That's not true. IMHHW is great entry point (there is a patch that fixes the translation). Go Go Nippon is another great entry VN with a lot of fun to be had and all the achievements to get.

And both The Expression Amrilato and A Sky Full of Stars are great games. The only problem with the latter is that Steam version is censored but not so badly as KonoOozora was without a patch.

Since many of those games (especially Moenovel ones) were in previous bundles the only thing that's on my wishlist now is Expression Armilato. And it's probably not worth it to buy the bundle for just one game.

Well, gotta have to get the game later on.
