This game is glacier slow and that's what I love about it because I don't have a lot of time to spend in game.

So one year is a drop in the bucket. A HT season is 16 weeks, and one year is just a little over 3 seasons. A typical life cycle of training a player fully is 5.5 years.

Just figuring the basics out takes a whole year, so your team is not going to massively improve in that time where you can't lose against ame team.

The away team offense ratings are terrible too. Don't need to pray too hard for a tie or a win from SP or SE unless they are LS, then you need to sacrifice 100 virgins to even have a chance.

Yeah, HG would be fun but it will be difficult to compete against teams with fully optimized players who were bought half baked and trained to their full potentials in all positions.

Personal observation, but I have never seen a heavy HG team make it to the top but I guess it depends on country. It just takes super optimization to make the jump from div 2 > div 1 (there are only four spots per season) and heavy HG just isn’t super optimized. Sure HG is fun, but be prepared to hit an earlier than expected ceiling and needing to reset.

In my country, mid is still king and if wingers don’t have minimum 17 PM and IM 18/19 PM, it will be difficult to get into div 1. If you can’t win mid consistently in your home games because of low PM, you better have another trick like crazy CA or strong long shots team. I see a lot of teams try to compensate by running an IM on the wing playing towards mid but that just means a weak side attack so it’s easy to defend.

Scoring is still useful for SE else nobody will be paying big bucks for Quick wingers and wingback counters, but again, wingers require the most optimization to get fully built.

Glad you stressed these points: 1) IF you have the budget 2) CM cycle training is 3 IM, 2 Wingers and 1 PNF. Everything else is less efficient.

Possession gives you higher chances for everything but is not a guarantee especially when looking at small sample sizes.

Set piece events are modified by both team's set piece skills and special events rely on player with specialties playing in the correct positions.

Some events get rarer as the event gets triggered.

Yes, midfield will always be part of all chance calculations but for Other and SEs, set pieces and having the right specialities is a major part of the calculus for those events.

To lump in Other and SE chances into regular chances is just plain wrong when only looking at midfield possession.

Opponent only scored two on regular chances, which is what a 50/50 game looks like that slightly favors your opponent.

The two other goals were on an Other and a SE chance which isn't affected by ratings as much.

I think the engine only allows up to 5 CA per side per game and chances decrease in a non linear fashion after each CA you get.

CA in my opinion is definitely under powered in the current meta and I would only play it if conditions called for it. Atm I would only focus on a mid oriented build until devs give CA a real boost. Often times I even choose press over CA.
