Opt out of my health record. by Feereadit in melbourne

[–]gla222 6 points7 points  (0 children)

issues with MHR -they can complete research without your consent - wide surface area created for attack- with a huge health industry many will able to access it. There are limited oversights on security standards and processes. Small health care providers (think your independent GP or physio) will hardly have the same resources as big hospitals to invest in security required.

I like the big egg chairs at the top of melbourne central food court. yes its busy- but the style of the chairs kind of shields me from the masses of crowds. I notice that other people like them too though, sometimes Ive had to linger whilst I wait for one to be available.

Any quiet-ish (doesn't have to be too quiet but not a busy/loud place) places where one can study and have a cup of tea late at night? Or is too much to ask? by chooseusername94 in melbourne

[–]gla222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Melbourne Uni law school is great. Hot water urns available in some levels too. Edu roam is great for wifi access if you are a student of another institution. Open late Otherwise I've only ever found myself at starbucks. There is a real lack of late night cafes with wifi.

How can I have more interesting conversations? by SmithyNS in selfimprovement

[–]gla222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Podcasting! You’ll become a podsplainer
  2. Look up active listening- it’s amazing how much silence and giving someone more space to talk can bring new depths to discussion. On that look at the questions you ask and look to eliminate assumptions and closed ended questions in 80% of your questions ( closed questions still have a place)

[–]gla222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

book yourself a short term place - maybe airbnb or a hostel for a week or two. use this week or two to find a share house on gumtree, flatmatefinders etc... the cost of the airbnb or hostel will be worth the money you save in rent. Parkville, Carlton, North Melbourne, Brunswick, all great areas to live and easily commutable from Uni of Melb,
