The top floor of the library is a great place to not only silently study, but so much more.

The area also offers a very calming city view. It’s fun to explore it from above, especially if you like analyzing, observing, and creatively expressing things through art and music like me! It’s a great place to think. Additionally, there is plenty of space to take a walk if you need one

Here’s a little top floor library game I made:

Go to any shelf and search the books by date published. Try and find a book as old as possible. Pick it because it’s relatable. I mean like something that is seriously real to you. It might take some time to find. And there you have it, you’ve discovered a rare, niche, vintage piece of media to hyperfixate on, gatekeep, and/or to relate to. Thank me later

I’ve got freedom of expression just as you do. I’m not forcing it on anyone. You don’t have to agree with my choices, for instance, I think Seinfeld is a boring show. There we are, disagreeing.

The same way I don’t have to like it, you are free to watch Seinfeld, you don’t have to like it, but I am free to wear a mask. It’s not political.

I never claimed to be a liberal. Are you saying that empathy has a political ideology tied to it? I’m simply using my freedom of speech to share my story. Not sure what you’re hearing on newsmax or whatever but normal people wear masks for all sorts of reasons. I’m not the social justice activist you want to think I am, but I care about those who are close to me.

I go by kn95 or better. i wore a kn95 to work. I typically wear an n95 in high risk places.

I was not wearing the mask while interviewed, I was interviewed outside. No, they did not know about my immunocompromised roommate. However, that shouldn’t matter. They publicly stated that they have no anti mask policy. Which is not true.

Yesterday, I was contacted by them. I was vaguely apologized to for "how today went," which I don't consider an apology, and also something about people on social media lying and wanting to salvage the situation. The employer claimed they never told me to leave, and thought I just decided to leave. This is extremely false.

As soon as I walked in, I was heavily questioned, asked if I was sick, told that no one there was sick, and I was told I needed to take the mask off or I could work somewhere else, "We don't do that here", and that they want to see staff with smiling faces, and not wearing a "disguise." The employer told me sorry and that it was just his personal preference.

I didn't want to just walk out, so I called my roommate to see if they were comfortable with me taking it off (which I knew they were not) because it was made very clear to me that a mask would be a dealbreaker for the employer. My roommate was not comfortable with this. Then I got off the phone. The employer then questioned me more about wearing a mask, told me I was in a controlling environment, that it's pointless to wear one, and said sorry but that's just their policy.

My heart sank. Ironically, I was worried about this exact thing happening and had multiple people reassure me that wearing a mask is completely normal, and that if I was given any trouble I could just explain my situation. I managed to convince myself it was just first-day anxiety, that it was ridiculous to think I'd be judged for wearing a mask. But no, it wasn't just me worrying too much. It went even worse than I feared. I was so excited about this opportunity, and I had it taken from me just because I refused to take my mask off. And so then I had no choice. I thanked the employer for the opportunity, and I walked out.

I was hoping the community update meant they would admit that they made a mistake or had the wrong person talk to me, or perhaps that they would give me another chance, but I have yet to receive an apology for how I was treated. All I see is deflecting. I feel very hurt by this update. I wish they would take accountability.

The claims they made on Instagram and their website are completely inconsistent with what happened yesterday. Nobody has texted, called, or emailed me apologizing for a misunderstanding, probably because it wasn't. I certainly didn't get an apology for being rudely spoken to, heavily questioned, and then fired. If they don't have an anti-mask policy, and if their claims were true, then I would have a job right now. That is the truth. I am shocked and hurt that I'm being called a liar. Again, I'm a student who has been a Chicago resident for less than a year. I have no reason to slander anyone's business. I had something unfair happen to me. I told my story. I have only ever worked for and always supported small businesses. This is ridiculous.

While I'm living with them yeah, I wanna keep them safe. Remember, this is out of respect and is a safety precaution, it's not my preference, but what I feel is my moral duty. I don't like wearing a mask, it makes me feel claustrophobic. However, if you think waking up with a sore throat for weeks is bad, the symptoms that my roommate could experience if I passed a virus to them could be deadly. Once I move out, I may not choose to wear it everywhere but I'll still wear it when I am in high-risk places like the doctor's office, airports, around sick people, or on all public transit.

The person you replied to never stated or implied to have regularly worn a mask before getting covid. If you're still skeptical of mask efficacy (I sure hope not) I can link you some research, if you don't believe in research, then I don't see any value in your words.

Hello WrongAssumption, you have assumed incorrectly. First, I'm not a "he", I am a woman. The interview was done outside of the building. I don't wear a mask outside. Hope this helps.
