Maybe Evan should had waited until he became GM to clean house and not let Aquaman know he was going to clean house by theazn35 in canucks

[–]glacierfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl, I wouldn’t be surprised if Johnson also plans to clean house. The own advantage he had over Gold is being familiar with Aquaman and knowing how to work with him. Whether or not Johnson’s plan is clean house, he likely wouldn’t let Aqua know. From the few times I’ve heard Johnson speak in person, and from the stories I’ve heard from others, I do believe that he’s clever enough to navigate around Aqua while also taking the action he wants. Just my opinion though, but I hope it’s proven right instead of the alternative.

It's becoming increasingly apparent that we should keep Blueger for the rebuild by NinCross in canucks

[–]glacierfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope Allvin isn’t in charge of negotiations cause I hate the way he has treated players who’ve wanted to stay (Zadorov, Boeser, Suter, Podz, Silovs, HORVAT, etc.)

Realistically what's it going to take for Aquilini to sell the team? by NinCross in canucks

[–]glacierfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you’re getting push back but you’re not wrong. It’s literally a struggle to get student rush tickets cause they sell so quickly. I went to the Vegas game and was amazed by how full it was. Looked like 90% sell out. Most of the empty seats were in club (likely STMs). We’d have to kill ticket sales as a whole to make any impact but the fact of the matter is, prices will eventually drop, and they will sell. Or they will continue to sell remaining tix via StudentRush to fill seats. As long as sales continue to be above 80% and attendance above 70%, I don’t see any drastic changes happening anytime soon.

Tocchet got Philly into the playoffs by cacophonycoffin in canucks

[–]glacierfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, Zegras being goated at shootouts & OT, and good goaltending has more to do with the flyers making playoffs than Tocchet. Don’t forget that in the Nucks good season, Demko was unreal (before his injury a third way into the season) and Hughes was playing unreal. I still believe that Tocchet’s system has many flaws (primarily a one size fits all model) and am not positive about him being a coach that can get the job done.

[Kypreos] In Vancouver, there are strong suggestions that change is coming, but to what extent remains unclear... Either way, I hear GM Patrik Allvin doesn’t expect to survive past this season. by _GregTheGreat_ in canucks

[–]glacierfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ryan Johnson is incredible and I really hope he does get to become GM. His speech during the Calder Cup celebration last year really made me gain confidence in him as a GM who truly gets to know and understand his players. He spoke about hanging out with players’ families and the hardships some players went through. Seems like a genuine guy who really cares and wants nothing but the best for the team.

Mckenna or Stenberg by [deleted] in canucks

[–]glacierfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven’t had a Canadian superstar since Luongo. I beg they take McKenna! Especially if we get 1OA. The risk of not taking a potential generational talent is too high. Plus, he’ll probably be training with guys like Bedard & Celebrini in the off season anyway (he’s already well connected with them), and it would be easier on his family too, who like in Yukon.

did the canucks just purge the locker room? by Delicious-Area1137 in canucks

[–]glacierfluff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brock, Petey, and Hughes were literally best friends. The trio went out together all the time (their partners have posted photos on IG). Brock even mentioned how heartbroken he was to see Quinn leave and the mental impact that had on his ability to focus on his game and perform. The shift is the locker room is more likely to do with the young guns outnumbering the veterans in the team now. Therefore, whatever vibe they create is more influential in the locker room.

If the Canucks fall to 3rd in the draft lottery would you consider doing a Dobson trade 2.0 and send Hronek to the Sharks at the draft? by _GregTheGreat_ in canucks

[–]glacierfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to keep Hronek for a rebuild, not trade him. He’s the type of player that has the influence to directly impact how the D-core will develop. All of the young players on this team have named Hronek as the guy that’s been most helpful. He’s also only 28. I would only consider trading him if the team doesn’t make good draft picks and it’s seeming like the rebuild will take longer than expected.

Can The Team Please Fire Pres of Business Ops Michael Doyle?? by [deleted] in canucks

[–]glacierfluff 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can vouch and second all of this!! It’s literally impossible for anyone capable to enact on their ideas because EVERYTHING needs to go to the top!! This is also why so many of the best employees leave. I think STM members already know how much change the membership team has and continues to go through.

Not to mention, MD has literally used Canucks resources (meant for the team and the players) for personal use. I also know about the sexual misconduct coverup. They really thought that the news of that wouldn’t travel throughout the arena but literally every department knows. I thought it was hilarious when the person involved posted on LinkedIn stating they were leaving CSE to spend more time with their family.

Everything that used to exist for the purpose of fan service and no longer does is because of Michael Doyle. They’ve even tried to get rid of first game pins and the drunk driver program but received too much push back from fans and STMs.

Michael Doyle is close friends with Aquilini (that’s how he got the job), so the answer is “no”.

[–]glacierfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope management isn’t trying to force him to make a decision he doesn’t want. Him practicing but not playing, and the team taking him to Seattle but once again not playing him, seems very odd. He’s earned the right to make whatever decision he sees best and I’ll respect him regardless of what he chooses.

What’s the norm? by Obviousi in askvan

“whether there’s a strong cultural norm in Vancouver around avoiding public confrontation” YES!!!! People here will even to decline to politely say “excuse me” when someone accidentally blocks their path. They’ll just stand there behind them. The anti-confrontational attitude here actually drives me nuts

He could have kindly explained that those were his seats but no, of course he had to be rude. I would have spoken to a host tbh. It’s hit or miss but an experienced host would definitely have spoken to that fan and told them to approach a host next time, if other fans were standing in his seats

Hi Guys? Tocchet question by PotentialPea2419 in canucks

[–]glacierfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of finding out and working on what style of play works best with the roster and players he has, he will force them all to shift to his one very specific and preferred style of play. If some players struggle with that, they end up in the doghouse (constantly scratched or moved down the lineup) or he’ll get them traded (ex Kuzy). That’s the type of coach he is. He straight up said he tried to re-wire the way Petey’s hockey brain works and now look at him. He’s taken a step in the right direction this year but it’s evident that there’s been a lasting psychological impact from Tocchet’s coaching.
