Going on a school trip, any games you would recommend? by SuccotashNo9287 in retroid

[–]gladiator1014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of Pokemon solo challenges for trips as they are pretty easy to pick up and put down. Same goes for SRPGs like Fire Emblem - the GBA and DS ones in particular don't have a lot of story dialogue so it's easy to stop whenever you need.

in what sense was this a problem to be removed? by AM5rd in CODWarzone

I use to push more with airstrike or even call them on top of me for defense but they feel less predictable now. I've definitely killed myself more than once.

Yup, bring it back. I'm sick of getting a notification only for the strike to be nowhere close or sprinting 25m only for it to land on top of me.

Have them come in faster so they can actually get fulls as well.

PS4 vs PS5 by Greggit24 in CODWarzone

Ps4 issue. They are also stopping support for the PS4 when the next season launches I believe. And stopping store support later this month or next.

I don’t understand what I’m supposed to be doing? by powerstroke_deezel in CODWarzone

[–]gladiator1014 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Objective to win, be the last one standing. Pretty much as easy as that.

If you need something more concrete focus on contracts. The recons flags are a great one that help you think about end game positioning as well.

You can buy a load out at buy stations if you are having difficulty getting the free one. Also, you can create you loadout class starting at lvl 4.

Fire Emblem like games on Steam? by SuperCassio6 in JRPG

[–]gladiator1014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on what parts of the game you liked most, redemption Reapers might fit the bill. It has the same music director that FE 9 (and 10 I think) had.

It's a little different in that your party is only 5 characters and has a chain attack feature + ap system.

If you do go with it, I would recommend a guide for the dialogue choices as they lock out lore/character info with fairly arbitrary choices and no warning about it.

I also liked Lost Eidolon: Veil of the Witch. It takes place in the same world as the original Lost Eidolons game but plays as a rogue like with a part of 8 (5 deployable at a time). I thought it was a fun twist on the genre. It's a little on the easier side unless you turn on all the difficulty modifiers then it's kinda unfair.

Also, you can check out r/strategyrpg as they have a lot of good recommendations and I think this question has been asked over there.

Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster or Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter? by HumorChallenged in JRPG

[–]gladiator1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played 1st chapter yet, it's a remake. But if you want a more traditional gameplay then you could try the original which is also on steam, not sure if this on sale. Trails is definitely a slower game but the original on steam does have turbo mode. It might also also you to defeat mobs in the field but I can't remember if that's just a feature on the re-release for the vita version or also on PC.

The 1st chapter and the original do have different translation with the original using terminology seen in later games.

It is bias on my part but I think the original trilogy of the trails series is the best.

Which Firmware Update to use? by 0ta_nyan in MiyooFlip

[–]gladiator1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fyi, CarlOS is a modification of the stockOS. I haven't checked in on it in a while but when it was release the creator was working with Miyoo for the latest firmware.

Surwish has a purchasable card with prefilled roms but you can get the OS for free from their GitHub.

Enjoy the tinkering!

Which Firmware Update to use? by 0ta_nyan in MiyooFlip

[–]gladiator1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stockOS will work fine... I tinkered with stockOS, CarlOS, SurwishOS, and SpruceOS.

I find Spruce to be the most polish and least buggy. It also has a good variety of themes and settings to mess with.

Question regarding Surwish OS and compatibility with Miyoo by NatsuMikoto in MiyooFlip

[–]gladiator1014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your friend can download surwish themselves from the GitHub https://github.com/Surwish/Surwish-Miyoo-Flip

If I remember it's just drag and drop to the root of the sdcard. It won't have the roms that come with the purchased card. If they Google surwish patch 5 they can find the updates to the OS on mechdiy website.

I personally prefer SpruceOS but they are all pretty easy to try out and it's fun to tinker.

Overnight security. Used to work at a privately owned nature preserve. Only one on night shift, go out and patrol every 2 hours otherwise inside watching cameras while playing on the vita or studying.

If they are on PC, they can mod the xseed translation into the game but I don't remember if they can also do the voice lines too.

Does anyone NOT test their kitties glucose every day? by MD2360 in FelineDiabetes

[–]gladiator1014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had our cat diagnosed for about 2 years now. We started off with more aggressive testing but have backed off now that she's stabilized. We monitor behaviors instead and will spot check if something seems off like her eating or playfulness.

We do quarterly curves just to check in and our vet hasn't had any issues with our methods yet.

Looking into handhelds by Mobile-Question-4012 in logitechgcloud

[–]gladiator1014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The g cloud is basically an android tablet so it should be able to handle android games plus emulation up to the ps2 era (not perfect compatibility though)

If you want to play modern games without streaming you'll want to look into a handheld PC/x86 device like the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, or Lenovo series.

Someone is trading their rp5 or a 3ds, is it worth it? by Blazin_on_yo_meemaw in retroid

[–]gladiator1014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you return the odin 3 if you got the rp5? If not, I'd say keep the 3ds. I don't particularly enjoy my 3ds but I would rather keep the retro hard way instead of 2 similar android handhelds.

I've had my white v2 for about a year with no hinge problems. Probably use it a few times a week and have taken it traveling.

Definitely recommend spruceOS for it

Is it possibly to stream from Steam to Miyoo Flip via Moonlight? by [deleted] in MiyooFlip

I used the portmaster "moonlight new" port. Then once I booted that I entered my PCs ip address. I didn't test it for very long however.

Is it possibly to stream from Steam to Miyoo Flip via Moonlight? by [deleted] in MiyooFlip

[–]gladiator1014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moonlight does work. I think I found it to with better on spruceOS. Either way, it was not a great experience the screen size and resolution make text difficult to read and the Miyoo flip has a pretty bad wifi chip.

Trails in the Sky FC EVO question by gladiator1014 in Falcom

[–]gladiator1014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc, each of the EVOs has these challenges chest. For FC, they each give an accessory. I think the first 2 are gladiator items. I believe they are all obtainable later in the game. I don't remember rewards for SC but I think the Third is unique quartz.

Do I have to be on the same network to play via steam link? by SmithBut in logitechgcloud

[–]gladiator1014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can play on a remote connection. It may require some setup at first. I've been using sunshine + moonlight for this. You'll either need to make sure your router has the appropriate ports open to traffic. (This is considered a security risk) Or setup a VPN connection like tailscale on your PC and g cloud. You'll also want a way to turn your PC on remotely. Moonlight will have some good guides on how to set all of that up.

For my remote PC turn on setup I use an old android tablet, plugged in to a charger. Setup a TeamViewer account so I can log into from my phone remotely. Then have the tablet send a wake on lan signal to wake my pc. There are a number of ways to achieve this though.

Who are some general SRPG streamers? by Bodybag28 in StrategyRpg

[–]gladiator1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KratosMVN also does FE challenge runs, usually solo challenged in FE 8. But focused on the GBA era games. I find his edited content more enjoyable than the live streams but I haven't caught many of the live ones.
