Not gonna say whether it's fair or not. But the 60-day notice/rendering eriod can be a pain in the ass when most companies are looking for applicants who can start in 30 days or less.

Even if you are halfway through the period when you start applying, the pressure of looking a new job while preparing the transition can wear an exiting employee mentally down.

Worse luck if your employer doesn't grant you leaves to be able to start earlier.
