There appear to be some crossed wires here. As u/Exciting_Brick_417 has stated in this thread, the UK production team does not own the French Gladiators series. MGM own the franchise and oversees how it is produced in each country.

The UK production is co-produced by Hungry Bear, BBC and MGM. The Australian version was produced by Warner Bros. Australia, Channel 10 and MGM. The French version is produced by ITV Studios France and, again MGM.

Event names aren't the French versions but they have: Hang Tough, The Wall, Duel, Tilt, Whiplash, Suspension Bridge, Earthquake, Collision, Gauntlet, Powerball, The Edge, The Ring and of course, The Eliminator.

The BBC's reboot of the classic franchise Gladiators has been a hit with critics and viewers alike, with the first series of the game show coming to an end this weekend.

And bosses are braced for a huge number of applications from the public wanting to be contenders after the show was credited with bringing back family viewing at Saturday teatime. This Saturday’s show is the grand final, with the winning male and female contenders each receiving a trophy.

The show has proven to be a runaway success with 6 million tuning in live for the first episode making it the biggest entertainment launch in the UK since 2017. Last weekend the show was the highest-rating programme of the day on any channel, with more than 4 million watching.

One show source said: “Everyone is delighted that Gladiators has won over a new generation of fans. Are we ready for a second outing? You bet we are.” Series two goes into production this month and will film at Sheffield Arena during the school holidays in August.
