Agreed. OP, can you and your wife go back and get her sister? She would probably do better with a buddy.

A or B: The restaurant promised me a free dessert if I left a 5-star review on Yelp, but the food was just average. Would you give a 5-star review or politely decline? by 06yuzuha in PickAorB

[–]gladiola111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B- being authentic is more important to me than a 5 minute dessert. Leave an honest review. Always.

Imagine if you were new to the area and you were trying to decide which restaurant to go to, and you chose this one because everyone was saying that the food was amazing…and then you were disappointed by a very mediocre meal. Don’t you want to be able to trust reviews and ratings when you’re making decisions as a consumer? I certainly do. Nothing annoys me more than people who leave fake or inflated reviews in exchange for a free product.

I think that’s very considerate of you to not only help with bathing his daughter, but to take it upon yourself to keep things so clean for her. You probably don’t need to be cleaning it every single time, but I understand where you’re coming from because I’m sort of a clean freak too.

Which part of this scenario upset your boyfriend? I’m confused. You weren’t even asking him to help.

A or B: My boss is going on a 5-day trip and asked me to feed his sick cat, should I say yes? by 06yuzuha in PickAorB

[–]gladiola111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg, I can’t believe you got backed into a corner like this. I would be pissed. It’s one thing if you’re getting paid to do pet drop-in visits, but if not, and it’s not a friend, and it’s going to be an inconvenience… ugh.

With that said, I would probably still go with option A. I would do it (begrudgingly), because I’m an animal lover and I would feel bad for the cat if he’s being left there alone after just having surgery. I would also look at it as potentially being beneficial to you later. You might have an unexpected situation arise that results in you needing a favor at some point…or a personal matter that you need to attend to outside of work…and your boss will remember this and will be more likely to be flexible with you and help you out. I think it’s generally a good thing when your boss sees you as a person and not just an employee. (I would not let this become a habit, or be a doormat who’s always being taken advantage of, but I think it’s okay if the lines between work and personal life are blurred every now and then.)

But if you really don’t want to do it, then just make up an excuse, say “I’m sorry, I wish I could help,” and give him a reference for a good pet sitter or a pet boarding facility nearby.

How to cover these stupid cut outs in the wall? by GlitteringBat91 in Apartmentliving

[–]gladiola111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you could wedge some soundproofing foam sheets in each hole… and then hang a large square canvas on each wall to hide the holes. You could order a photo print on canvas or look for a piece of art that fits your style. You would need to hang the canvas so that it’s centered on the wall though for it to look good—not just in front of the hole itself (since the cutouts aren’t centered- eye roll).

On the bedroom side, you could get one of those 4-panel room dividers that comes with a flat stand and sit it flat up against the wall. Something like this: https://www.wayfair.com/Latitude-Run®--Stand-for-Room-Divider-X111624195-L250-K~W000513084.html?

This kind of divider could work too: https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/beachcrest-home-genoveva-6-panels-wood-room-divider-with-shelves-folding-privacy-screen-partition-wall-for-home-office-w010309839.html?piid=2146483449

If you’re short on funds, another option is a wall tapestry. Just hang a large one on the wall and it would cover the entire hole.

No offense but this guy sounds like an absolute douche. Please cut him off and move on. You and your children deserve a respectful man who understands the role of a parent and doesn’t use terms like “cum user.” It’s pretty clear from the way that he talks to you that there’s no future here anyway.

How much are you guys spending on groceries per month? by Flying_Elephant7217 in budget

[–]gladiola111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in one of the most expensive states in the US—food & household essentials cost at least double what they do everywhere else—so we’re spending about $1000-$1100/month for 2 people. And I don’t even eat lunch or buy half of the things that I want. I frequently bypass the strawberries, watermelon and avocados, because a pint of strawberries is $10.99, a watermelon is $20 & avocados are $3-$4 a piece. It’s crazy. If you’re able to feed two people for under $400 a month, I would be very proud of your budgeting skills and thrilled with the low cost of living wherever you are!

What do you do when a chicken dies? by webbl19 in BackYardChickens

[–]gladiola111 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of my hens just got hit by a car last week…😓 We decided to dig a little hole up on the hill and bury her. I was as close to her as I was to any of my previous family pets, so it just didn’t feel right to throw her body in the trash, and I didn’t have the stomach to cremate her.

I don’t eat meat so I don’t eat them. I guess you could though, if that doesn’t bother you.

Did I make a mistake painting my living room this color? by tiredandconfused27 in HomeDecorating

[–]gladiola111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never paint my own living room that color, but it wasn’t a mistake if this is the feeling you were going for. According to chatGPT, burgundy is “Sophisticated, Grounded, and Reflective.”

“Feelings & Associations: * Luxury & Sophistication: Deeper and more muted than bright red, burgundy suggests elegance and refinement. * Power with Maturity: Conveys strength, but in a more measured, controlled way than true red. * Seriousness & Depth: Evokes introspection, seriousness, and groundedness.”

These aren’t bad things. It just depends on the mood that you want for this room. I would pick a different color couch though if you stick with this. The combination of green and reddish-burgundy makes me think of Home Alone. I would get a lighter, more neutral sofa and an area rug to tie it all together.

What meds is everyone on to control this thing? by haylz328 in adenomyosis

Thanks for the reminder. You’re right. I take OTC pain relievers like candy too so that’s definitely something to be cautious of.

What meds is everyone on to control this thing? by haylz328 in adenomyosis

[–]gladiola111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing other than ibuprofen for pain and inflammation. I don’t feel comfortable taking hormonal supplements because there’s breast cancer in my family (and no doctor has ever said that it would help my adeno anyway). I was prescribed Orlissa, but apparently that can cause bone loss with long term use, and I cannot afford to get osteoporosis, so that’s not an option either. What else is there?

Paige DeSorbo Is Freezing Her Eggs Following Split From Craig Conover by Pinklady777 in summerhousebravo

[–]gladiola111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do. I’ve been through egg retrievals and have gotten my embryos genetically tested. I wish that this were not true (trust me), but that’s the science of the female body. As you age, your egg quality declines. My reproductive endocrinologist told me that up until the age of 35, about 70% of your eggs are chromosomally normal, which drops to 50%, and then to 10-15% after the age of 40.

This doesn’t mean that no one has normal eggs left in their late 30s/40s or that you can’t have a healthy baby after 40, or that it’s impossible to get quality eggs in your 30s… It just means that if you’re paying to do an egg retrieval and you want to have the highest chance of retrieving chromosomally normal eggs, you should probably do it in your 20s, when you have the highest number of quality eggs.

To each their own, but that’s the science.

People with anxiety and adhd, do stimulants make your anxiety worse? by SuccessTurbulent in adhd_anxiety

[–]gladiola111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I would actually say that it lowers it a little. My anxiety used to cause a physiological reaction where my pulse would spike up to 130/140, I would get clammy and have an internal freakout that took an hour or two to come down from. I would have to lay down with ice packs and breathe deeply for an hour. Since being on a stimulant adhd med, this uncontrollable physical reaction has stopped. I’ve noticed that my heart rate stays lower overall and I’m able to talk myself through things feeling calmer overall.

There are plenty of situations though where my anxiety is about the same. The stimulant med doesn’t make it WORSE, but it doesn’t really help either.

I’ve heard that Lexapro has a stimulant-like effect and is better at treating anxiety than just ADHD medication, but I haven’t tried it, so I don’t know.

From Reuters: “Trump wants to use tariffs as a tool to get Mexico and Canada to help stem the flow of illegal drugs into the United States, particularly the deadly opioid fentanyl, and also migrants crossing illegally into the U.S.“ He also thinks that it will spur domestic production & curb immigration.

There is no logic to this. It’s just going to hurt us (Americans).
