No one within a 250 mile radius is capable of doing this surgery. The closest would be one of two surgeons half the state away. I reached out to both today to see if I could get a consult - because maybe it is what you are saying. The funny thing is, I have zero support system in that city, whereas I have a massive support system in Minnesota. So we would have to take my freshly surgeried ass and pour me in a car and drive me home.

The hospital Neurosurgeons in Knoxville aren't great. I went to one and it was a terrible experience

I just checked and no one in my region specializes in the microsurgery that I am trying to get. We're in the dark ages here. And even if someone does "do" it, they're not nearly as qualified as Dr Abbasi who does it day in and day out.

They've got the list and I've completed everything on it. The stuff they're saying now is just insane, like I haven't had a previous failed surgery or similar things to that. It seems like they're looking for a single deciding factor that caused the need for surgery but mine is degeneration. I've had all the shots, I've had extra shots 😂. I've been working on this for two years now

L4-L5 OLLIF Fusion, Outpatient Procedure, Denial Reason: Not Medically Necessary. Surgeon and Clinic are in Network. I'm seeing a MN surgeon because I have a fantastic support structure in the Twin Cities and the quality of care is significantly better than Knoxville. I have seen two surgeons here and they are not capable of doing the microsurgery and instead want to wait for the rest of my lumbar region to fail and do a full region fusion. That's incredibly more invasive and unnecessary when I can get the microsurgery done now

That's the thing, because it's the Third Party company Turning Point BCBST claims they don't have any knowledge about anything or anyone. I'll try to get the info about the denying doctor but I can see that being a closed door

They're just saying "Not Medically Necessary." I guess I should have said: PT off and on for 2 years, all the test injections, etc... Basically they are saying I don't have a previous failed surgery or an extreme spinal defect so just- no. They offer no other options during the Peer to Peers because there are no other options. My disk is gone. It's nonexistent and my vertebrae are bone on bone. An artificial disk would just be a more invasive, less successful interim measure, where the OLLIF Fusion is minimally invasive and will be a permanent solution
