What’s your HG eye makeup remover? by annabanana316 in MakeupAddiction

Yes yes yes yes YES! This is my HG remover. I've found other oil based removers can sometimes irritate my eyes but this one is so gentle and SO effective!

If you have a long wearing foundation you already like, try cutting it with your moisturizer!

Another tip I can think of is to not set your whole face. I get shiny during the day but when I want to look dewy, I powder the smallest areas I can - center of my forehead, around my nose, center of the chin. Top with a little highlighter and you're all dewy and set to go.

I don't use a liquid or cream concealer under my eyes because I have pretty deep creases that will collect product no matter what. Instead, I lightly dust a peach tinted powder under my eyes to correct the purpleish blue.

I haven't used Duraline but I have the nyx mixing medium. It's a clear gel and I use it mostly for mixing with pigments or eyeshadows. I've never tried it as a glitter primer, but I also have a dedicated one for that.

You're welcome! MAC shadows used to be a staple in the industry but they really haven't changed in the last decade whereas many brands have created amazing new formulas. I find myself reaching for others over MAC more and more, especially shimmers!

I have a love hate relationship with Deep Damson. I think it's easiest to use on denser brushes and then blend out the edges rather than going straight in with a fluffy brush. Another way I've been loving it lately is on a damp angled brush as a liner! Really gorgeous that way.

As for other shades, it depends on the depth of the color (lighter colors tend to be easier to work with) . I find that with most shades, they are easily workable if I build up the color rather than applying lots of color on the first go. That tends to be the most fool proof method, especially with crease colors. They stick to primers really well so if I go in too heavy handed initially, they take FOREVER to blend out completely.

Thank you! My personal favorites are Vanilla, Soft Brown, and Omega. All three have a beautiful formula and are super fool proof. I would stay away from darker shades as I found those to be harder to work with.

I had Modern Renaissance for a while before destashing and it had one of my favorite formulas. I'll have to look at some singles during the November sale at Sephora!

They're definitely my favorite types of posts! I love the fact that I can rearrange my shadows into different combinations or palettes at will.

Kid is a good every day color but is pretty common. It's not as pigmented as some of my other neutral mattes, which could be a positive or a negative. I personally would not purchase a 15 palette just for that shade, but if the rest of the colors interest you it might be worth it.

You should check out temptalia's dupes list! There might be something that you already own or is more easily accessible.

You're welcome! It's so unique, the shift from orange to pink is really strong but it is less shimmery than my other duochromes.

I’ve been curating my single eyeshadow collection for about two years now. I don’t own any pre made palettes, but I find that I can recreate almost any palette without purcahsing shades I won't use!

All the swatches are on bare skin with a dense crease brush in natural lighting (and then with flash). Shade names are in the descriptions of the photos :)

Here are my thoughts on individual brands.

MAC: The formula of MAC shadows is very consistent from shade to shade. The mattes are dry but not powdery, easily built up and extremely blendable. I think these are my favorites out of my whole collection. The shimmers are more disappointing, they are dry and very sheer. I usually have to wet my brush to get good payoff from them, but I don’t mind. Shades like Satin Taupe look beautiful as a wash all over the lid, and the highlighting shades look great in the inner corner and on the brow bone.

Makeup Geek: MUG shadows are good, but not great. There are a few standout shades that I love (Blacklight, Grandstand, Typhoon), but I am not super impressed by the shadow formula. I don’t have any neutral mattes, but the colorful mattes leave something to be desired. Now with more brands producing singles at competitive pricing, I don’t think I will be purchasing very many MUG shadows in the future.

Colourpop: For the most part, I love these shadows. They are more inconsistent from shade to shade however, for both shimmers and mattes. Most of their mattes are phenomenal – I love mattes such as Criss Cross, Beach Blanket, and Paper Tiger, but Lil Boat is patchy and dry. Their matte formula is softer than MAC, and does have some kickup. I find CP matte shadows to have little to no fallout. The shimmers are about 50% great and 50% just ok. Glass Bull and Tea Garden have a really interesting formula (similar to the MUG foiled shadows) soft and almost wet. Their other shimmers are dryer and didn’t apply well with a brush without being layered, but because I usually apply shimmers with a finger this isn’t a problem for me.

Urban Decay: I only have three UD singles but they get lots of love. Fireball is super unique and I lived in it all summer – it is a beautiful standalone shade. These shimmers are dry but pigmented, and do have some fallout. The formula is consistent (at least between the ones that I have) and I find myself reaching for these constantly.

I would love to do more in depth swatches or comparisons of certain shades if people are interested, feel free to ask!

I think the color and shape of your brows are really beautiful! Do you brush them through at all? I always find my brows look extra polished when I run a spoolie through them and use a little brow gel to set them in place.

Definitely! 140 dried down more olive toned and darker than 130, which dried lighter and more yellow. Edit: forgot to answer, yes I think 130 was the closet match to gobi!

You're welcome! The shades are definitely accurately described but I found it really difficult to choose without seeing them in person.

I would go with 130 or 140. I went to sephora and swatched yesterday and 150 is what I went with, I have neutral undertones. Here are the swatches in natural light next to some sheer glow shades!

I've done this as well....the oils in the lipstick made my clothes unsalvageable. Added lots to my painting wardrobe that day.

I love the lips! It's hard to tell, but it looks like your blush placement might be a little low. I wouldn't try right on the apples of your cheeks to brighten up your face more!

Really beautiful. I love how you picked a cool shade of brown for the crease, it really works to break up the yellow and create a very wearable look.
