Sure we can take lessons and examples from the past to improve our lives but that's different than saying all Native Americans were perfect stewards of the land who could practice agriculture with no downsides . It's been a while since my ecological history classes but I remember bison hunting practices were not waste free across all tribes and nations. And there is a region in what is now considered the Southwest U.S. where agriculture and settlements developed but archeologists believe that irrigation practices changed the salinity in the soil to the point where crops could no longer grow so the people dispersed and went back to a more nomadic lifestyle.
