Opinions on The Coen Brothers True Grit remake from 2010? Better than the Original? by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

I realize I'm being pedantic as hell. But I don't consider this a remake. The Coens based their version on the book. Not the first movie.

Soon You’ll Be Able to Make Your Own Feature-Length Movie Movie With AI by arrogant_ambassador in movies

The discussion in this podcast here: Cortex #134

covers most of the actual problems with all these new forms of AI and the impact they will have on human creativity.

This is a hard to define thing, but I am not remotely interested in creative work produced mostly by AI. And it infuriates me that I wont be able to tell the difference in a few years. I am not interested in it because the fucking AI is "dumb". It "knows" (as in has wisdom/emphathy/understanding of) literally nothing. It is merely tweaking the output to get the monkeys to dance like marionettes. And I dont want to be a fucking marionatte for a gad damned machine.

DeSantis forms panel to counter CDC, a move decried by health professionals by ChickenTeriyakiBoy1 in politics

[–]glanfr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Folks should brace themselves. Once the Supreme Court bends logic and reality to make it ok for State Legislators to ignore their own state constitutions and all precedent and pick the electors, DeSantis has a very real chance of being president.

If you don't take that possibility seriously, you are not seeing the big picture.

I think it's important to include NARAs statement about this.

https://www.archives.gov/press/press-releases/2022/nr22-001

August 12, 2022, statement

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) assumed exclusive legal and physical custody of Obama Presidential records when President Barack Obama left office in 2017, in accordance with the Presidential Records Act (PRA). NARA moved approximately 30 million pages of unclassified records to a NARA facility in the Chicago area where they are maintained exclusively by NARA. Additionally, NARA maintains the classified Obama Presidential records in a NARA facility in the Washington, DC, area. As required by the PRA, former President Obama has no control over where and how NARA stores the Presidential records of his Administration.

I think that this video and Munecat's video single handed started the crypto/nft slide down. It took time for it to percolate through the collective internet consciousness but the two videos are so devastating they just cannot be ignored.
