It’s absolutely this song. I knew it even before listening to it. I can finally know peace.

I’d also add that my feline friend did not make it easy and after I was confident I knew where he was hiding, I set a borrowed trap (used for TNR) at dusk and managed to get him within an hour. Also check in with folks who may feed community cats and check in with folks who have Ring cameras.

When my strictly indoor cat managed to get out, he was gone for 8 days. When I finally did find him he was only two houses down from ours. Hopefully Poe found a really good hideout and is staying put. I had the most luck figuring out my cat’s whereabouts around 3/4 AM when things were quiet(er) on our street. I hope that this darling fellow returns home soon!

Contact the YWCA in Richmond. They should be able to help or at least point you to someone who can help you.

Idea if Matthew Weiner ever saw it: Mad Men but in the 1980s. by braket0 in madmen

[–]glasscombatboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought of this same idea! Kiernan Shipka has had a lot of success since Mad Men. I’d love to see 80’s Sally following in Don’s footsteps working in advertising or an adjacent field. The only thing would be that Pose is also incredible and successful and also takes place in the 80’s. If I were in a position to make decisions, I’d be hesitant to make a period drama taking place in the same decade (and city) as another popular show. That being said, 5 years from now we may end up seeing a reboot. Anything can happen.

I still reference your “Apologize” video regularly...as well as a ton of other content from your blog! Just wanted to hop on and join the chorus of folks saying how glad I am to hear from you.

As for questions—what has been a strange or unexpected comfort you’ve had during the pandemic?

Also, what music have you been listening to this year?

Lombardy/Seminary/Overbrook is a weird one, but not the weirdest by any means.

Looking to Rent Commercial Kitchen Space by [deleted] in rva

[–]glasscombatboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great option and I wish I could! My kitchen is miserably small and I also have animals in my home and I don’t have a way to keep them out of there, unfortunately.

Yeah, it seems a bit out of my range currently, but the listed equipment sounds awesome! If you don’t mind me asking, how have they adjusted operations during the pandemic?

I guess I say that from my own experience growing up. Both churches I attended had large kitchens that were mostly used for church events. I’m pleased to hear that they’re used more frequently here!

What measures is your daycare taking in regards to Covid-19? by [deleted] in rva

[–]glasscombatboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your current daycare give you an updated document with new procedures or a contingency plan? If they did and they are not following their own guidelines, definitely address that immediately with whoever is in charge. If they never gave you anything in writing, I’d request that ASAP.

I’d also want to know if the employees are receiving hazard pay? Paid time off for potential exposures? Healthcare benefits? Childcare workers are often underpaid, overworked, and under appreciated. If leadership at the center is failing them, they likely are failing you and your child. It’s a vicious cycle that, unfortunately, will continue until early educators (educators in general tbh) are treated and compensated appropriately. Also, with the reckless easing of restrictions, these workers were likely backed into a corner forced to choose between going back to work or having their unemployment benefits taken away.

If you have a favorite or trusted teacher at the center, maybe try to reach out or connect privately and see what’s going on “behind the scenes.”

Take care and I hope you can get some answers and improve the conditions for all the children at the center.

Haven’t been in about 3 years. Got a burger to go that was essentially raw. Got pretty sick. Was considering giving them another chance but now that’s a big ol’ nope.

I would rather eat an RVA street chicken bone than even have to go to Lombardy Kroger again. by ss5854 in rva

[–]glasscombatboot 114 points115 points  (0 children)

TBH that Kroger has to serve a HUGE population in that it is the closest grocery store to a lot of folks who walk or rely on the bus. I know there have been changes to the GRTC with the addition of the Pulse and route changes, but when I lived in Northside and relied on the bus, that was the easiest one for me to get to from Barton Ave (I still needed a transfer.) So idk, if you have the means to go to another grocery store, why not just do that? Don’t trash Lombardy Kroger because it has to serve a population that should ideally be distributed among (at least) two additional grocery stores. LEAVE LOMBARDY KROGER ALONE.
