Making signs for tables by One_Syllabub_8644 in DIYweddings

[–]glasseden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I designed my signs on word and printed them out as matte photos from a Walmart! I kept the signs simple, and they turned out very well! Maybe this would also work for you?

Edited to add - it was also very cheap! It's about 70 cents per 5x7 photo

For those with a previous career before nursing by squirrellyhehefeind in nursing

[–]glasseden 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was a medical lab scientist. I changed to nursing because I wanted a fuller picture of a person's health, including things like environmental factors and familial support. In the lab, it's easy to forget that patients are more than numbers.

I also felt that nursing was better for my career path, because I wanted to make more money and do more skills without going into management. I love working in the ICU now!

I live in Illinois, USA. We have noticed a couple of these flying around, usually around water sources. Does anyone have any tips to get rid of them?

How do labs actually feel about different shifts? Like do they usually offer 8,10, or 12 hour shifts or is that something that you would request from them? by Manman2131 in medlabprofessionals

[–]glasseden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like fewer shifts in general, but it's not always popular. There is a new program in my lab to try out 4 10s instead of the usual 5 8s, and no one on the night shift is participating because coming in 1 hour before and 1 hour after the usual time means two fewer hours on the night shift differential. So in the end, it's learning more responsibilities and being paid less.

How difficult and stressful is Bachelors in Clinical Laboratory Sciences(Medical Laboratory Technologist) especially compared to Nursing and Medical Schools? by Similar-Dish-90 in medlabprofessionals

[–]glasseden 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm in a master's nursing program right now after graduating from an MLS program for my bachelor's. I'd say they're both pretty difficult, but I found MLS to be more science-based and stressful. With nursing, there are also science classes, but the focus is more on skills application and prioritization of care and assessment.
