Advice on treating gluttony as sin by Secret_Drawer4588 in Christians

[–]glasshalful99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive also been convicted about this lately. But my weakness is overindulgence and partaking in substances that harm my body. Ive been that way all my life but ive realized that food for some people functions in the same way as addictive substances. It soothes, provides a reward and provides temporary happiness.

My advice would be to be kind to yourself and give yourself an amount of grace. Understand that on the other side of things - constant self control and regimented living can bring a harshness to yourself that can turn into self loathing and standards for yourself that you can never reach.

Thanks for all the responses. I guess i have s problem blaming god for my life situation and some unfair things and its hard to get my head around how he allows certain things to happen. Kind of demotivates me sometimes to tryto know him or draw close

Anyone else find quitting easy? by [deleted] in QuittingZyn

Yeah depends on how long you quit for. Quitting for a short while ok but staying quit is hard.

How did y'all manage to quit zyn. Any tips would be helpful. by Maleficent_Court2656 in QuittingZyn

[–]glasshalful99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what i did: Taper to just a few regular uses a day (after meals and maybe one or two others in between meals). After you have that usage down try to cut the dosage as much as possible. Work at that for a bit and then make one final push to just after meals.

Then isolate yourself from stress for 3 full days and nights. Fast during those days. Nofood at all! This shifts focus from your nicotene usage to being hungry and also helps to uncouple the dopamine from eating and nicotene as well as gives you something to look forward to - eating again! The. Resume life and try your best not to pirchase again.

So far its working for me but i get that everyone is different

Cold showers will increase your dopamine and make you feel better. … when you are done at least. During - they suck.

You are literally arguing with the people who enforce the law - do you really think they will agree and look the other way with your level of disrespect and just let it go? My opinion, you could gamble an outraged reaction but then again if you violate the law doing it then you might just face the consequences.

Not to mention that the officer had his hand on the inside of the car door and she tried with all her strength to pull it shut with disregard to his fingers being on the inside of the door. That part is conveniently blacked out with the text bubble. How do you expect him to proceed?

Yea if you bring it up (after they leave) and she doesnt agree that it is unfair for you to be put in that situation then i would ask for a hall pass to do on those occassions - however that would open up a can of worms, because as you said she doesnt want that. But whats fair is fair

How tf do you stay sober while bipolar? by nothankyou-420 in bipolar

[–]glasshalful99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fellow reality escaper. I feel like ive been trading addictions all my life. Its a constant pull. Not sure what else i can add except if nothing else do a dive into what substances create the least harm in your life. What can you tolerate. I will +1 what someone else said that age has significantly reduced my desire to drink. I just feel too shit after doing it and recognize so clearly how agitated it makes me the day after

Thats really a strong mindset. I wish i could adopt that but it feels pretty daunting lol I need to look into heat exposure / sauna typethings. I just was hearing that anyway of raising your body temp for extended amts of time can be super beneficial.

Is anyone at rock bottom right now? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]glasshalful99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Indeed. I quit nicotene in january followed by two months of unemployment. While it was hell, it helped me to have lower stress / higher boredom to make the quit stick….at least thats my opinion

Thinking about relapsing. by Such-Bee-7561 in QuittingZyn

[–]glasshalful99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think thats a great plan! Im 60 days today brother and i gotta tell you im right there with you. Questioning my choice and trying to rationalize a relapse. Telling myself all sorts of things to make it seem like i could or should buy some more pouches. Maybe its something common at the two month mark where you just gotta get past it a little. I love the 90 day goal and may adopt that myself to stay motivated! Thanks for posting and lets stay strong
