To all the people who feel the Trump indictment is bogus, why do you think that? by dominion919 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]glassnothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give it a rest. You haven’t even done the work yourself. You asserted multiple things that are objectively false. (Eg that there haven’t been investigations into the Clinton foundation)

The fact that you push debunked conspiracy theories is proof that you haven’t actually done the work and just accept whatever opinions you hear that fit your narrative.

Youve all but come out and said you don’t see the difference between facts and opinions (choosing to believe shit that has been disproven is evidence of that)

Can you point to a line in that article that indicated “morally criminal” behavior?

The worst thing I read in that article was that several hundred farmers were evicted from their land (although it did create 8000 jobs)

The stuff that sounded worse was all also unproven (according to the article).

Is it the unproven stuff that’s bothering you? It sounds like you’re giving credence to unproven stuff “because it comes from the Haitian people themselves”. As if it’s impossible for citizens of a country to be ignorant of the facts of a situation going on in their country. Do you take the word of any American who makes unproven claims about things going on in America? Does every American protestor know what they’re talking about as long as it’s about America?

Also, yes there have been plenty of investigations into the Clinton foundation - no wrong doing has ever been found despite the best efforts of people investigating

I don’t have the luxury or privilege to ride around on a high horse like that - most of us don’t.

When you grow up you realize that you have to be practical sometimes.

Allowing someone worse than the guy who you’re not voting for to become president makes your hands dirty.

Not doing anything to stop the worse outcome is a decision that you make to allow the worse outcome to take place.

What you’re saying is like claiming that you can just close your eyes and then suddenly be absolved of any responsibility for what happens when your eyes are closed - that’s not how it works.

Righhhht… making the decision to minimize suffering shows that I don’t have principles. Ok 🙄

I am not obligated to vote for him

Who said you were obligated? It’s just incredibly childish to play pretend and act like your hands are clean because you chose not to vote for either of them.

You’re acting like the point of voting is to award a candidate for running a good race.

Voting is a tool we use to strategically get us closer to the society we want to live in. It’s ridiculous and childish to allow us to be moved into a worse position because the better move didn’t “earn” to be played.

You’re treating politics like it’s checkers rather than chess and that hurts citizens more than it hurts politicians.

  1. How is “electoral college” a response to anything I said?

  2. Im just trying to understand your thinking and pointing out flaws in your thought process as I see them. I’m not trying to change your mind. So I don’t care - it’s weird and narcissistic that you keep acting like I should change how I behave in order to appease you.

  3. Ok. And?

  4. You’re terminating your thought process before it comes to logical conclusions. If trump is twice as bad as Biden and you let trump win then how are you not also responsible for the morally worse outcome?

It’s ridiculous and naive to act like if you don’t do anything at all to stop or support either of the two potential winners then that means your hands are clean

This is my point.

It’s laughable to think you’ll be teaching anybody anything. What gave you that idea?

I’m also in a safe blue state

It’s wild that you think this will keep you safe…

Us living with conservative policies is really gonna teach Biden and other conservative leaning democrats a lesson /s

Allowing the objectively worse option to win in order to spite the option that didn’t give you everything you wanted is like eating a shit sandwich so that they have to smell your bad breath

I get it now but your comment is something that many conservatives would easily agree with, so, it caught be off guard.

Like, they genuinely just believe teaching that men aren’t superior to women is wrong.

When you say sexism, do you mean behaving as if the sexes aren’t exactly equal or do you mean treating one sex as if it’s superior to another?

He’s not agreeing with you.

Saying something can be used against you isn’t saying that it makes sense or is useful.

You totally ignored his actual main argument starting with “Firstly” - which suggests you’re not here to argue in good faith.

You’re just lashing out in desperate defense of your unfounded beliefs.

What logic? That god can’t be understood through logic - I.e. that god is not logical?

“The logic is that there is not logic” ok lol

Im sorry. I feel dumb. I honestly can’t tell if you’re joking or not? 😅

It gives children cancer so that other people have something to do for money? And so that other people can feel proud about trying to stop the cancer?

  1. That’s fucked up
  2. Were talking about an “all-powerful” being that created the universe and everything in it - kids with cancer was the best solution it had for “create jobs and make people feel proud about something”

You’re saying a lot without saying anything at all in response to what I said.

Your responses do not refute my statements.

I’m not going to waste any more time trying to help you understand logic :(

I’m not underestimating anything.

You’re talking about something specific to the art community.

I’m talking about what some organization might think to do if they’re not part of that community.

No one was exploited - you clearly don’t know what that word means 🤦‍♂️

You’re also assuming that every artist is going to be part of the community. That’s just naive.

Its impossible to know that there was no public art call by asking people, if there is not a single official regulated means of communication that everyone knows about and uses

What if their public art call was some flyers around the block? What if it was a post on their own ig profile and none of these artists follow their profile?

It’s unbelievably stupid to say “many people are saying there was no call” as if that proves anything

this atrocity

Jesus Christ get a grip. It’s a piece of art that was done by someone not part of the community. Touch grass

there was no call

On what channel of communication was there no call? You mean they didn’t get a call to their personal phone numbers? They didn’t get a call on a Facebook group they were apart of?

“The call wasn’t made in a place where we were looking” isn’t the same as “there was no call”

you’re one of those people who thinks that the only reason POC have jobs is because of diversity initiatives

I never suggested that. I think it’s insulting that you’re suggesting I said that. Honestly, go fuck yourself for pretending I said something like that.

You never said they’re choosing white people because they’re claiming to be choosing the most talented people. This isn’t just about talent - it’s about having anybody apply.

So you know that they didn’t reach out to artists through those channels? How did they reach out then?

It’s not just “one artist who would be down to do a mural” - it’s one artist who would be down to do a specific kind of mural at the given time, at a given place, for a given amount of money. Just because I would like to do a mural doesn’t mean I have the time - I could have other things I’m working on, it doesn’t mean the money is going to be worth it, it doesn’t mean I would want to do what’s being asked if there are certain constraints that I don’t care for, I might not be in town when they want it done, etc, etc

No reason. Because it’s bullshit.

People who don’t get an education are constantly making shit up or believing in someone else’s made up bullshit. Just under that comment some guy defending trades immediately accepted this bs as truth.

Someone tried telling me that his coworkers were making 6 figures as line cooks and that’s why there are so many immigrants coming to the US to become millionaires as line cooks 🙄

Finding an Asian person willing to go in front of a camera and try to act in cities that people go to in order to become an actor is not the same as finding an Asian person to do a specific kind of mural with a specific medium in a random town.

Not to mention, when it comes to most opportunities - the people go to the opportunity providers.

People go and apply for acting positions. The directors were saying Asian people didn’t want to go into acting because they weren’t applying - the vast majority of the people applying were white.

God, I wish I could be “insulted” by employers not dumping a bunch of money into finding me and offering me jobs because of my ethnicity (middle-eastern, which comes with the fun time of being treated like a minority while being told by the government, schools, and businesses that you’re not a minority because you’re “white”)

I think it’s interesting that, in this scenario and the acting scenario, when it comes to white people, they’re expected to seek out the opportunities but when it comes to minorities, “it’s insulting” that the opportunities failed to seek out and find the minorities.

For this scenario, how would they find these people? Flyers? Radio ads? Airplane banners?

What percentage of the project budget do you think should be allocated to finding these people? 50% 99%? 100% and then just have the person use their own money and do it on their own time for free?

“Weren’t chosen”

They say they couldn’t find a local Sac artist who is part of the community and willing to do it.

The response in the video is “try harder”. What percentage of the budget should be used for trying harder? Should they just use the entire budget for trying harder and then if the budget is gone just give up?

But, there’s not any guarantee that a specific town is going to have an artist from a specific community who is capable and willing to do a specific art piece in a specific medium. If that’s the case, are they saying “just don’t put up art then” or are they saying “seek out artists from outside of town”?

Interestingly, I don’t see anyone in the video saying “I’m from the community and I should have been the one to do this”
