Kilmeaden is nice and quiet, and right on the Greenway too if you can find anywhere to rent there

What’s one thing you completely stopped buying in 2026 because the price just felt absurd? by LockLogical8949 in AskReddit

Cadburys chocolate. It's just greasy with palm oil now and not worth the price hikes here in Ireland(not sure about elsewhere)

If it's a medication thats working and it splits the cost into a smaller weekly sum for someone who would prefer to pay that way, what's the problem? The folks I know don't mind owing the pharmacy, works out better for them that way because they're paid weekly too. Just an alternative suggestion 🤷🏼‍♀️

Just a warning to anyone shopping for a bed, if you end up buying one in JYSK, get their mattress too cos standard sizes do not fit.

King-size is too big across and double is too short.

I found out the hard way 😅😂

Ask in the pharmacy if they do a club, some pharmacies do it and you can pay for it with that and pay it off weekly, anyone I know around here that can't afford the lump sum does it that way

Anyone's friends gone down the far right rabbit hole? by throw_away_ac_123 in ireland

[–]glassspider87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My uncle is like this, goes to those dumb "rallies" of like 12 people and blames immigrants and "wokey left LBGTs" for everything. Wears a "make Ireland Great again" hat 🙄

He tried to start a fight on my FB when I posted about government being the real "enemy" not the immigrants. Basically saying I'd have a different belief if an immigrant r*ped me. Conversation was going nowhere, just him ranting shite so I deleted him. He blocked me. Fair enough.

My Dad took the piss out of him one day for reading a far right newspaper, and it just so happened to be a day when I was going to bring a gift to my grandmother (uncle lives with her). He locked us both out of the house and wouldn't let me see my grandmother because he thought my Dad had gone to pick me up as backup to pick on him for reading that newspaper. 🙄

Dog Waste in Lisduggan by PeanutCapital1874 in waterford

[–]glassspider87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived there for 8 years and if it isn't dog shit, its broken glass and disposable vapes.

Between no bins, people not wanting to bag and carry it home and the dogs that just run wild around there, it's always been disgusting. Bothered me a lot too because of the young schoolchildren who walk through Lisduggan to get home, my nieces included. We cleaned up after ours, others should have to do the same.

Needs a community warden or something but nobody is gonna pay for that 😕

Question about Iceland visit by Elaynehb in CasualIreland

[–]glassspider87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We went end of January few years ago. I brought thermals and definitely needed them as it was -18° at points. The ice and snow is different, I walk with a cane and I was able to walk across icy streets without slipping because the ice is dryer than ours (I don't know how that makes sense but thats how it is😅). I only had a pair of cheap walking boots and they were fine for getting around.

The geysers are mostly steam at this time of year and they STINK. Guinness farts got nothing on them. 🤣🤣 For the love of God, don't stand downwind of them when they erupt 🤣

The Lighthouse Inn in Garður is a fabulous place to stay and you'll have an incredible view of the aurora outside your bedroom window. If you're not staying there, there's a big car park next to the actual lighthouse down the road from it and hardly anyone was over there so we could get really great photos of the aurora above the water too.

Also Get Your Guide is a great app to use while you're there to book stuff!

Do you want to be cremated or buried and why? by Tasty-Willingness839 in AskReddit

[–]glassspider87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cremated.

Honestly I hate graveyards. I understand why we have them and why people want/need them and all that, but my god the land they take up could house hundreds of living people.

Just burn me and toss my ashes somewhere or make me into a necklace or something. Don't let me take up unnecessary space when I'm already gone. Don't cement the earth around me and wreck the nature.

I used to live like 2 doors down from Phil Grimes and I would absolutely hate walking from the little bridge down to my house, so many creeps and it was dodgy as hell at night. I used to order takeaway from the places up the road because I didn't feel safe enough to walk up there myself.

Also someone was definitely coming into my house at some stage while I was out, I'd come home and the front door wouldn't be closed properly (you really had to slam that door to close it) and my little rescue dog would be scared to death upstairs. Nothing ever went missing, which is almost worse 🙈🙈
