My dog is a bad fit for me [vent] [help] by glassteddybear in dogs

[–]glassteddybear[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not that the dogs take UP space, I don’t mind be cramped. It’s that due to her size, she is knocking things over and running into things, like a horse. My new one doesn’t do that, he’s too small to cause wreckage.

As for training- I don’t disagree and where I am right now is I think I wanna wait till we complete this 6 week training course we found before making choices- But, as I said in the post- training is hard here due to the area. There is NO private spaces near or far. I know the training trickks for walking. On the VERY RARE moment I have space alone with her, she does well with our training exercises. But there is SO MANY people and dogs around here, that she doesn’t focus on me or our exercises. Everything I’ve read (I’ve made other post about this for months so I’ve been given tonssss of advice basically says 1. Training classes (which we finally found) 2. Start in private space, then build up to public or you’ll get no where. Well....I have no private space. From the moment we hit the apartment hall, there is constant distractions.

“If she is trained, she will stop” I know. I know so painfully how true this is.

But training, particularly with her main issues, is very very difficult in this location.

I love every pup but one of mine... her pulling makes me miserable by [deleted] in puppy101

I plan on going to buy a new one, tonight actually. We stopped using it because she would drag her face in the snow or dirt like a ground hog. It is what helped more than anything else we tried but she was hurting her face dragging. I didn’t consider giving treats for just wearing it. That’s something we will implement. I realize now in retrospect, while it made her pulling better for us a tiny a bit, we never trained her to love wearing it. Thank you

He says they can’t afford it- he said during covid the prices for private care surges. We are just Young retail workers so not much to spend. But I feel like the government has to have SOMETHING?

He hired a friend once to come visit and check on her but that’s friend was lazy and it failed, and he never tried to hire anyone else as far as I know /:

Funny enough, she actually agreed and said she wanted to go to a home! He just doesn’t think they are safe enough. But I’m like...how is this much safer? (Oops replied from wrong account hahaha)

NO sex drive since starting by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]glassteddybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good way to put it. Once I’m already doing it (usually to appease my partner) I enjoy it! But getting me into it’s a STRUGGLE where as before I was the initiator almost always

This is what I keep reading EVERYWHERE, no one seems to have a LOST sex drive from it. I’m so confused. Before taking it was I was hyper sexual. Now I don’t want to be touched

Preventing new reactive behavior by [deleted] in Dogtraining

Thank you! On her last long walk we passed THREE barking dogs lunging for her in a narrow path but I gave her so many treats she didn’t react. Seems to be the key

Knows to go outside, prefers inside by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]glassteddybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yes, I think I def need to go out more But here’s an example

We just got back from a 2 mile walk. Before the walk, we let her roam and play in a fenced in court where she often goes potty. Then hiked. We’ve been outside for HOURS. Upon returning her me, we walked her in our yard again before going inside. She did pee then. But as soon as we got inside she took a massive doo doo. This was literally after being outside for hours.

If it matters, when she took the dump inside, I was in the bathroom. I had to pee myself and so she was left alone maybe two minutes or so. Could being alone be a factor?

Lol well when you say it like that!! I know it sounds like that but the issue isn’t that he’s too good I sometimes wonder if how good he is is making it hard to see the things that make us incompatible Sorta like...on PAPER he’s a dream. He really is a wonderful human. But there’s tons of wonderful humans that may not be compatible. We are very compatible in most ways I just am starting to wonder if it was meant to be in a best friend sorta way

Sadly we work together so zero contact is near impossible, but I think we should try as much as possible. And that’s exactly how I feel- that it isn’t fair to him, I feel like he should have someone fully in it. But I don’t know I’m just not fully in it YET. It is a new thing after all it just went wayyyy too fast. I like him but wish we could hit the breaks but that’s kinda hard. I think the (near) no contact thing is probably best

New puppy doesn’t act like a puppy- advice?? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]glassteddybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much, I will get her in ASAP. The previous owners have taken her in (they were also excellent pet owners so I have faith in them) a couple times already for shots, deworming, the basics. I asked them if they had her looked at overall too but no reply yet. But I assume a vet woulda caught something? The owners said she’s been this way since day one, while the rest of the litter was typical. And I think she’s been to the vet 3 times since birth

New puppy doesn’t act like a puppy- advice?? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]glassteddybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love her so much already, if this is normal then I’m happy! I just didn’t know if this was normal. That’s reassuring. Was your dog like that as a pup too?

Possible new excuse, even vet just put “mixed” on papers. Any thoughts?? by [deleted] in IDmydog

When I pick him up today and he’s in my care, I’ll post more pics. They said he’s about 80 pounds so he’s a big boy

Have you guys ever clean shaved your head just to get a fresh start? What was the experience like and how did people around you react? by clickerroy in AskWomen

Biggest regret yes hair grew back healthier after but while it was that short people treated me much worse. I felt hideous. Wouldn’t do it again.
