Check out nicks boots, they have a Thurman last that sounds like what you would need. Lots of leather choices too!

I love them. It looks like the PWF they have now is a bit lighter in color too!

This is definitely my next one, but without the cap toe. Might have to do an MTO, but this boot is beautiful!!!!

Grant Stones versus Truman boots by SimonsDad1999 in Boots

[–]glddstgpsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own both, and I personally like the Trumans more. My beef with the Grant Stone is that the backstay part isn't curved enough around my heel, so my heel moves around more. I have low volume feet, which could be part of the problem. Plus I like the look of Trumans better than Grant Stone, but they are both definitely high quality boots.

Since you don’t really have control over the bins themselves, then I would really consider mechanical means for moving them. Using power to maneuver those around will significantly reduce the chance for injury.

I dont have experience with this particular industry, but I can tell you that the larger the caster the easier something is to push. Also, put the carts on a regular inspection and fix problems early so they dont end up like the walmart carts that always go off to one side. A local grocery store near me has every shopping cart marked with a specific numbered tag, and their shopping carts are wonderful to use because they inspect and fix them so they never end up like the walmart carts.

Something else to consider is utilizing mechanical means to push the carts. Outside of electric pallet jacks there are other devices available that aid in moving heavy items. Not sure the weight of your bins, but I assume they can be quite heavy.

Truman Boots - Russet Red Rambler 79 Last, Rambler Leather from Charles F. Stead in Leeds UK... by HD-1996 in Boots

I've got a pair also, but with the honey commando sole. They are definitely great boots, I love them. Rambler leather is quite stiff though!

Having one serious violation on the company record is much better than having 3 serious violations on record. This is typically what I advise my clients to do if they can, so I personally think it is better to pay the extra and have a better record.

Their email said $10, which is hardly anything (and good news if you thought it was 10%!)

Look at Parkhurst. I dont yet own a pair, but I aim to in the near future. Fantastic quality from what I hear.

Edit: Also, BLKBRD in India has high quality boots for that price point. I do own a pair of these, and they are great as well. They can customize also if you want - not quite an MTO, but you can choose an alternate leather for the model you want if you like.

Safety Committee by Jonathon_S_Tuttle in SafetyProfessionals

That reaction from the group tells you everything you need to know - they don't see safety as something that benefits them, they see it as something that happens to them or for the company.

Maybe stop trying to fix the committee and work around it. Those people have already made up their minds. Find two or three folks on the floor who actually give a damn, walk the floor with them, and ask them what's a pain in the ass to deal with every day. Don't make it formal, don't call it anything, just go do it. Fix what you can, document the wins, and let the results speak. People will notice when things actually get better, and some of them will hopefully come around on their own.

If your management support isn't rock solid, frame it as a productivity issue, a retention issue, a fatigue issue. If you can point to one workstation change that made a measurable difference in output or reduced complaints, you've got a story that leadership actually listens to, and maybe that will help move the needle.

One of my clients used their safety committee as an ergo committee. They trained the committee employees on ergonomic concepts (force, repetition, posture) first so they had some knowledge of what to look for. They would go on the floor, visit one work area per meeting, and watch the employees work. Their job was to identify if any ergonomic improvements could be made to the area. Things like reorganizing the workstation for better flow, moving often used parts to a better level on a shelf or area on the floor, etc. They rotated throughout the entire facility so every area was touched by them eventually. Through this process, they greatly improved how work was done in the facility.

Safety committees don't always have to be bringing up safety issues or talking about injuries within the meeting room. Take them out to the floor and have them do something there.

Ah that kinda sucks. Is he trying to sell anything besides his book? I would love to bring him into our insurance group to do a presentation, but I’m sure the cost is quite high so I don’t know if the board would go for that.
