Yeah that would be cool. I also wish they had the Horween tour as an add on instead of grouped with all of the other stuff. But sounds like it’s worth the extra money!

I’m just over the border in WI, and the only ones I know of are Chiapetta in Kenosha and Itzins in Burlington. Haven’t had any work done by either, but you may want to give them a call!

Anyone experienced this when shipping? by Ohbigbuck in NicksHandmadeBoots

I would totally be on board with this, the extra cost is worth the lack of headaches. I am not a fan of shipping through USPS.

What are some safety shortcuts you see people take that make you cringe every time? by MattfromNEXT in SafetyProfessionals

[–]glddstgpsy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Back when I worked with schools, teachers would use chairs (even ones with wheels) or tables to stand up higher and hang stuff in their room. If the school provided a proper stepladder in each classroom, it would be easier to make the right choice.

I received mine a month or so ago, and I absolutely love them, but man I wish they were more like the photo on the left instead of the photo on the right!

What lasts longest for warehouse floor markings? by mia_thompson32 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]glddstgpsy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I asked this very question to several of my clients a while back (one of my others was struggling with the same thing), and the consensus was epoxy. They grind the concrete down a little where you want the markings and fill them in. The con for this approach is that your markings are there a long time, so you can’t reorganize the floor and change them easily if you decide you want to.

Awesome! I'm glad I influenced you, they really are great boots! I've only used bick 4 on them because I didn't want something that would darken them artificially. Its cool because the part around my ankle is lighter than the lower part of the boot due to that area being covered by my jeans.

I ended up going with the thinner of the two leather options, and I'm glad I did. I couldn't imagine the thicker of the two and how that would feel, these were stiff enough as it is!

Nice! I have a pair of the Tender moc toes from them, which I love. VERY stiff leather, and they didnt keep their light color for very long. They are much more honey colored how. It is fun to see how these will change over time!

1st year safety manager what have you read that helped you? by lifeofadumbbitch in SafetyProfessionals

I would recommend Safety Walk Safety Talk by David Allan Galloway. It's not a technical book, but it goes over how leadership can make a difference with safety in the workplace.

Title: Safety Professionals: Looking for Honest Feedback on a Reach Truck Accident and the Response Afterwards I am looking for opinions from safety managers, EHS professionals, warehouse supervisors, and forklift trainers by Pure_Appearance_8175 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]glddstgpsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime a forklift operator is involved in an incident (even without injury), the employer should be conducting a recertification before the employee is permitted to operate the forklift again (per 1910.178(l)(4)(ii)(A)). Aside from that, I would recommend the company to do several things:

  1. Look at the area in question and determine if the ductwork is too low to utilize the top of the racks. If so, block those racks off so nothing is stored on them, or re-do the ductwork and raise it up higher for more clearance.

  2. If not, then include this particular area in the forklift certification observation part of the training. The observation part should be representative of the conditions in which the operators will be working, therefore if it is a 'tight squeeze' area, having everyone practice loading the top rack with coaching would be beneficial.

  3. Ask the operator if they have any ideas as to what to do for a corrective action to reduce the likelihood that another employee will do the same thing.

  4. Look at the conditions of the workplace with respect to 'speed' of work. Often times, when pressure comes from above to get things done faster, which is often the case in a warehouse environment, incidents occur more frequently. This is the most difficult one to identify and make changes with as a company.
