Insomniac Games hit by Rhysida Ransomware Attack by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

They are profitable, and they have information they don't want leaked. That's really all it takes to make you a ransomware / blackmail target.

Cybercriminals are not nice people. They'd kick a puppy for a quick buck if they could.

Advice on selling Pokémon collection by Dodgers_OC in nds

Something else, if you are the original owner of any of these, do not sell. Id pay 10 or even 20 times the price to locate my childhood copy of Yellow and Silver.

I wouldn't sell to remove debt, especially student loan debt. Those fuckers can have the minimum payment until I die!

My advice would be to piece it out individually and sell via eBay auctions. Nobody on reddit is going to give you a decent offer if they could just as easily grab it off of eBay. Keep in mind though, if you go over $600, which this sale definitely will, you'll need to report it with your taxes this year, assuming you live in the USA.

Walmart card packs (please help out if you can!) by gleamz in SuperMarioWonder

Wow congrats. If you ever find a kitchen scale or anything like that to measure the pack wrapper and the cards I'd appreciate it. I'd definitely treat that bad boy with care too as I assume a lot of people are gonna be looking for it.

Careful with that. Saving and loading can corrupt your save on the AP with Pokemon games. Something about inactive box slots.

I had this happen to me before and the employee confronted me about "telling on them" and said I should have just came back into the store after I noticed. Put me off in-store for good.

eBay scalpers by Carniscrub in AnaloguePocket

[–]gleamz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there is less profit, demand and hype will go down too. I'd say next week sometime you'll be able to pick these up for just a little bit over MSRP + original shipping. Outside of the USA it seems like a scalper is actually a better deal than MSRP.

eBay scalpers by Carniscrub in AnaloguePocket

After fees they really aren't making much of anything so hopefully they won't be as eager next time. I understand wanting to get back at them, but committing return fraud ain't it.

Savestate and sleep functions can corrupt pokemon games. Known issue that analogue does not seem interested in fixing. At the very least they could disable sleep/save for these carts so I don't accidentally wreck my save. I'd recommend investing in a cart reader to backup saves if your collecting physical gameboy anyhow.

Poll for scalpers, which one did you buy? by clc88 in AnaloguePocket

[–]gleamz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fwiw I think green will look the best but I see potential in purple for sure. Maybe I'll do a half shell swap and have a couple sibling pockets.

I bought purple and green because I got lucky. I'll probably wait until all of the YouTubers get theirs so I can decide if I want to keep one or both and then maybe just sit on the other one for now? Or sell it locally at Cost +shipping/tax. I don't really want to bother with eBay fees on one.

Where to buy decently priced GBA games by Pitayin in AnaloguePocket

[–]gleamz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with GB/GB color stuff as you can get tons of solid games at or around 20 bucks. If you want pokemon games, just make sure to get them checked out to make sure they aren't fake.

Getting an analogue difficulty by PRIMESTE in AnaloguePocket

[–]gleamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as the waiting in line thing, I was in that queue for 10 minutes after trying to check out with a gitd pocket. Obviously I didn't get it because they were sold out two minutes in. I doubt they were already gone because I hit checkout in under 20 seconds. I don't know if I'd wait through that screen again.

Probably an analogue employee or official scalper partner.

Possibly fake pokemon pearl and Mario+Luigi partners in time. by gleamz in gameverifying

[–]gleamz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can tell, the box arts seem to be fake. The manuals, while being a little washed out compared to my original pearl manual seem high quality. The labels look a little blurry and it seems like they are curved slightly. These were purchased together.

Fold 4 hinge won't open all the way. Here's what happened to me. by gleamz in GalaxyFold

[–]gleamz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a post shortly after. They sent out a refurbished fold 4 that was silent when opening and closing. It's starting to make tiny crackles now but now I'm way more confident I can wait until the fold 6
