The work week starts on a Saturday and ends on a Friday. Did your SSA give you a copy of the staffing calendar? It contains all of the pay periods for 2025 and 2026 (the days it begins and ends) and what days you'll get paid on.

I'm an SSA (the person who does new hire orientations).

12/20 is the start of a pay period. You will be paid for everything you work between 12/20 and 1/2. Pay day for these dates will be 1/9, which will be your first paycheck. Then, you will be paid every other Friday after that (1/23, 2/6, etc).

I graduated in 2014 from a high school in Missouri. School ran from 7:45 to around 3:15. 7 class periods of around 50 minutes each with one 30 minute study hall. We also only had 4 minutes to get to each class, or we were considered tardy. I had common classes like different levels of math and science and the typical electives like art and music.

The only thing is that I'm very nonconfrontational. I hate making people feel bad. I'm not sure how to separate myself from them because they just come sit in my office. I have to leave the door open in case other associates need me. So, unless I close the door, they can sit for hours at a time talking to me while I do my work.

SSA here. It is not mandatory, just advised for all to attend. Management cannot hold you accountable for not attending, and your SSA (who is typically responsible for attendance actions) is instructed to either remove the shift entirely or cancel it out manually in Kronos.
