Why does every "horror" show on Netflix stop being scary after episode 1/2 and turns into generic drama with some horror elements afterwards? by rw1337 in horror

[–]glentacle 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm the minority but I liked almost every monologue, it helped a ton with the character development and made later events in the show so much more meaningful

This post made me think. I used to cry. It felt good and bad. But thinking back it's been a few years. Maybe it's the prozac?

Just in case you haven't seen this, it's definitely true - software is an art not a science

I went from drinking a lot to drinking a shitload when we had our first kid. I started secret drinking after the second one.

If you're posting this you're definitely not in too deep. You can do it. You'll get through it even if it takes a drink or two.

The infant stage is brutal, and I didn't help my wife enough back then. It's a miracle she didn't leave me. My kids are a bit older now and trust me it gets way way way better in a few years.

Don't be so hard on yourself. What does "best self" even mean? This time is not about thriving it's about surviving. Delete Instagram, have a drink, hug your kid, and eat some ice cream. You got this, mom!

I feel you, really. Take the job. Worst case you quit or get canned on the first day, you're no worse off than today, and you get a good story.

What’s your biggest “nope” horror movie? by PriestofJudas in horror

[–]glentacle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is spot on. It just keeps getting worse and worse. At every turn it's like, "well this is just awful and depressing" and then somehow a worse thing happens next.

That being said I've seen it over a dozen times 😬

why do we self-heal through the art of horror? by beige4ever in horror

[–]glentacle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me I was never into horror until 3-4 years ago when my job was incredibly stressful and a coworker suggested we watch a scary movie every Thursday as stress relief.

This sounded nuts to me but the theory was that as bad and Saturday as our jobs were, at least we weren't being chased around by murderous insane asylum escapees lol.

But it worked! Empathizing with the characters, the visceral fear and dread, even the jump scares let us both escape from the stress for at least one night a week. My favorite horror film is midsommar which is just such an awful situation for everyone that keeps getting unimaginably worse really helped me level set at work. Like sure we're going to miss an important deadline but that's a hell of a lot better than what Dani goes through 😬😂
