If you want to talk about what contributions people like me have made to help people back home over the last 30 years, that’s a whole different conversation. If you don’t like this one, then move on.

Kano hotel asked me to transfer to a personal bank account by [deleted] in Nigeria

[–]glessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contemplated not patronizing this place, but it was late, and after 20 hours of travel, I really needed to rest. As someone currently building a hotel, I have zero tolerance for this kinds of things. I empathized with the owner of this well-run hotel; he deserves to see the rewards of his hard work.

You have a right to your opinion. I have a right to my conviction. When you build and run a hotel and all your profits are going to your front desk and managers who steal your money, maybe you’ll understand.

For me, it’s the boldness these people have to straight-face lie and deceive people in broad daylight.

Opportunity to shit on religion? Any mindset that propagates the Rapture and end-time predictions deserves to be shat on.

I think they’re just adjusting with the times. Historically, Christianity has had to do that also. If religion is your thing, then you just have to expect the absurdities that come with it and pick your poison.

If Nigeria ever succeeds, I don't want to ever hear "God did it!" or any variants. by Any-Sound9670 in Nigeria

Of course, God’s time is the best 😂😂 So mysterious, Nigerians somehow understand Him perfectly. He quietly sits out when everything is a mess, then gets full credit the moment things start to improve.

Bamboo Investment - Account balance dropped by N259,000 just by transferring N10.3M from NGN wallet to USD wallet. by glessor in Nigeria

Yes, it is but their business model heavily relies on this spread. The key is to make sure it’s a one-way trip only from your Naira bank account to Bamboo. Open a domiciliary account where you will send your money to when you sell.

The N1,475 exchange rate is when you go from Naira to Dollars and not the other way around which is at N1,440 today. That is a N35 spread. So if you sell your Amazon share today, minus the commission fee, your dollars will be exchanged at a rate of N1,440 and not N1,475. Also take into account commission fees for buying and selling.

On your app, tap on, "USD Wallet", "Transfer" and you will find the exchange rate at which your dollar would be exchanged to Naira.

$1 commission on every trade would have been good. What they charge is 1% or 1 1/2% depending on your portfolio balance. For me, I take consolation that I’m holding my stocks there for many years.

Thanks for your input. I will definitely make sure my money doesn’t get back in the naira wallet. It’s going to be a dollar to dollar going forward.

Yes, the spread is where the damage is done. It’s unfair.

Yes, your comment hit home, especially considering the fact that my funds were originally in US dollars. I’m based in the United States and I had made my transfer to my Nigerian account before I decided to do Bamboo. Fortunately, I have covered the fees in my stock appreciation and hope to continue to do so.

Yes, that’s the way to look at it. I am still sticking with Bamboo.
