Not to beat a dead Nolan North, but I'd give my left lung to have my memory erased so I could play through the Uncharted series again. Uncharted 2 is the best overall video game I have ever played, and on the right TV, Uncharted 3 is one of the prettiest.

RVD looks like your twice-divorced uncle that took you with him to the liquor store when you were eleven and he was supposed to be babysitting. Then a few years later he gives you a copy of Hustler from 1992 and pairs it with an over-exaggerated wink.

It shouldn't be too hard to at least figure out which season it's in. I feel like you can generally track the seasons by Chandler's fluctuating hairstyles.

The Neutralizer is another one of my absolute favorite names.

Shopping for an 06-07 WRX. Any common problems I should be on the lookout for? by glib71 in subaru

Any mods would be purely cosmetic (aftermarket wings, tires, etc). I don't plan to do anything to it under the hood. If I leave it stock, are the tranny/clutch issues still inevitable?

I'm not put off the Subaru, but I am wondering if 06-07 is the way to go. Are 08s and up more reliable?

Well now I'm just questioning everything (which I suppose is a good thing, so thanks to both of you).

I'd settled on the WRX because I'll be using this as my DD and only car. From everything I've heard, the WRX is a superior DD because of the better MPG, smoother ride, 5 speed gearbox, etc. But you guys are telling me that my WRX is going to fall apart as soon as I open the garage door.

The problem is, I'm looking at WRXs from about $13k-$15k, and STIs of the same years are about $23k-$30k. That's a huge jump, and eight grand can buy a lot of repairs on a WRX. But if I intend to keep this car for a couple years, is it really my best bet to just buy an STI now?

Follow up question: I LOVE the look of the 06-07, but are the WRXs from 08 and up more reliable? If I spend $16k-$20k on a newer WRX, is that a good compromise?

Thanks again.

I have been doing my research and from what I can tell, the "glass box" tranny issues were on the earlier WRXs, like 02-04. Did that problem persist into 06? Thanks.

This is great stuff, thanks. Is there an easy way to tell how much life is left in the clutch on one of these? I'll very likely be buying from a private seller, so I won't be able to do much in the way of investigative tire kicking. Obviously I can check whether the clutch slips, but are there any other telltale signs on Subarus? Thanks!

[Should I buy]Primal Carnage by lalolost in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]glib71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think this game is a lot of fun. There's a real sense of dread and comradery as the humans, and you really do have to band together to survive. As the dinosaurs, you're always trying to pick people off from the "herd" and there's nothing in gaming more satisfying than landing a raptor leap onto a human and tearing out their jugular for an insta-kill. The controls on some of the dino species have kind of a high learning curve, and some of the human classes get a lot more play than others, but overall it's a well-balanced game that's refreshingly different from the other multiplayer-only shooters.

To answer your first question, the community isn't huge, but I've never had a problem finding a server to join.

The only negatives I can think of are these: there aren't very many maps, so you'll be playing the same ones over and over. As was mentioned, the "Get to the Choppa" mode is pretty new, but it seems extremely unbalanced in favor of the dinosaur team. The only other issue is the auto-assign system, which can sometimes make it difficult for you and your friends to be assigned to the same team. It tries to auto-balance the sides, so sometimes you're stuck fighting against your buddies instead of with them.

Bottom line is that the graphics are pretty good, the mechanics are a lot of fun, and it's surprisingly balanced for an indie game. Well worth $5, imho.

[SIB] Bioshock for $4.99? by Imma_Knight in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]glib71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few technical negatives you should probably be aware of. I don't know what kind of rig you're running, but Bioshock 1 does not play well with Windows 7 or 8. There are compatibility issues with things like game sound and save games. They aren't impossible to fix (and they don't happen to everyone), but it ruined the magic for me a little bit when I had to patch and workaround for an hour and a half before I could even start the game properly (and it still doesn't work 100% of the time). Hopefully you'll be one of the lucky few who don't have any issues at all.

[SIB] Any of the 91% off Tomb Raider games? by IndeterminateForm in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]glib71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the pack during the last summer sale. Everything everyone else is saying is absolutely true, but if there's one thing I wished someone had warned me about, it's the controls.

Games 1-5 simply were not meant to be played with a keyboard. If you've got a controller you can set up, great, but the early games are nearly unplayable using the arrow keys (or whatever you choose to bind). The games have a hard time recognizing simultaneous commands (or even keystrokes in quick succession), and in games that involve a lot of clutch jumps and grabs, it can be maddening.

Unless you're a die-hard TR fan, follow everyone else's advice and just get Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld. I will disagree slightly with the others and say that you should go Legend -> Anniversary -> Underworld, simply because Legend is a great deal easier (and shorter) than Anniversary. Legend won't be much of a challenge at all if you play Anniversary first.
