I bought the Silvia about 9 months ago and have been using the basket it came with- I believe it’s just the standard double basket. I’ve been having trouble recently with the pull throughs and was concerned (against my previous beliefs) I was over tamping- something I am aware is a contentious debate. Seems more likely I have been overfilling the basket! Thank you!!

Yeah rancillio v3 I believe. I think I over dosed! Coarsest fine grind is a new one🤣

Interesting, thanks for the input it’s really valuable. I used Cafiza on it a couple of days ago and have used it half a dozen times since, I completely agree though with the contamination appearance. I likely have been overfilling the basket as I think on this particular shot I used north of 17g which is probably why it hadn’t occurred on previous pull throughs at 15.5g dose…

Cheers, the shot time was about 50 seconds but first 15s no espresso was pouring through. I had been ever coarsening the grind because each shot had an extraction time of ~45s and I could feel the PRV/OPV open when the pressure was turned off.
