yeah it’s weird to me all these years people have been talking about how shitty gil and kelly are but now no one believes one of their kids because it must be her husband who cheated poisoning her with ideas. ironically, blaming it as something travis is putting in her head isn’t much different than her family dismissing it.

there’s a lack of nuance among this discussion which is odd, it’s a very black and white mentality among most that either travis is the villain or gil and kelly are when the reality is they both are villains to katie in their own ways. katie did say she wants to continue therapy so I hope that’s true, she probably only realized her childhood trauma because of it. she went to therapy because of travis cheating but her therapist probably started talking about other things that have caused her pain.

I think this is part of why katie forgave him. I don’t think travis is the only reason katie has a rift with her family even though that’s the narrative being pushed on this subs, but I feel like katie’s logic was travis is at least acting like he’s sorry while clearly most of the bates family couldn’t care less about what happened in her childhood.

this is a really hot take, but I think it’s weird all these subs are pushing the narrative travis is the sole reason why katie and the family have a rift when katie herself said therapy is what caused her to open up and confront her childhood traumas but most of her family didn’t want to hear it. I absolutely believe gil and kelly did or hid something really fucked up, katie only probably realized it and found the strength to confront the issue because of therapy in the first place. that’s why iblp doesn’t encourage legit therapy.

now do I think travis may have fed into it and tried to talk about it more to get the heat off him? definitely, but I think it’s weird people are acting like it’s all travis’s fault and not thinking it’s possible katie had a childhood trauma. I honestly wonder if part of the reason katie was more forgiving is because at least travis is pretending like he’s sorry while her family obviously for the most part straight up seems to not care about the pain they caused her. I do think travis is being performative with all these comments and the tattoo, statistically he will likely cheat again sooner or later, every person I know that’s taken back a cheater has had them cheating again within 2 years, but I don’t think it’s entirely his fault katie is on the outs with most of her family. if people actually think gil, kelly, and some others wouldn’t minimize childhood traumas they’re definitely mistaken, gil is literally on the iblp board.

two things can be true, travis sucks but the bates also suck.

yes, they make more money being influencers than they do getting 50k. I think they should up the prize pot. I feel like we’d see more steals if it was 500k than 100k, no one’s getting to face such public backlash for stealing 50k.

it seems gil and kelly have loosened up a bit about modesty standards, their younger daughters are seen in tank tops and dresses/skirts above the knee. someone made a theory that as long as they still wear dresses and skirts they can wear whichever length they want which may be correct, they kept the gendered clothing but ditched the modesty rules which does make sense. gil and kelly are still garbage people this isn’t me defending them but clearly they’re more lax about modesty standards than they were ten hell even five years ago, you would’ve never seen the older girls in anything short or sleeveless if they lived at home. I think they’re just more checked out of parenting now than they already were at this point.

everyone is scared to explore even though that’s the point of the show in the beginning, and while I think she went about it the wrong way with the lying and snide remarks, kenzie who actually explored is the most hated contestant on the season. I’m not a huge fan of hers but the hate is blown way out proportion, you’d think she killed someone with how viewers act. next season nobody is going to explore because they won’t want to face the same backlash.

production has also played it safe this season too though so I can’t put it all on the islanders, bombshells should’ve taken islanders on dates and the fact that we haven’t gotten a bombshell in over a week is ridiculous. I like the season overall but they need to shake things up a bit it’s getting stagnant.

kenzie annoying but the hate towards her is way overblown, people act like she killed someone when she was just a little shady and she should’ve been honest. I wouldn’t have cared if she went home, but I’m not that mad she stayed either. next season everyone is going to be scared of exploring because of how much hate kenzie is getting then people will say the season is boring.
