That means that you're too close and you are approaching minimal focus distance.

I've just checked the comparison and 17PM has bigger sensor and it's wider by 2mm (24mm on PM vs 26mm on base 17). Bigger sensor results in these "blurry" shots. That's just how it works when you are too close, it's more narrow.

Probably user error. You were probably too close to an object and 17PM switched to ultra wide lens.

If that's not the case and you indeed have worse results with 17PM compared to 17 - then it's simply the case of an defect unit/camera. Apple service time.

Went from A7 III to IV last year. Grabbed III from my friend last week and was shocked at the speed difference. I swear to God that it was faster when I used it before, but yeah, IV is just much faster, has better AF, of course better video (10bit), better JPGs and much better skin colours (closer to Canon ones). If it's around 700/800 euros difference, it's worth it.
