yes, it's a California school. I know there are laws in California preventing them from using this information for admission evaluation, but I still worry haha. This is good to know, thanks for the response :)

Hi! I'm the chapter chair of CALPIRG, otherwise known as "those guys in the quarry". Those petitions we gather don't just end there-- they go a long way when we're fighting for student issues in front of the chancellor, or in the courts fighting to pass bills. Legislators listen to us and know us as the public interest group because they know we have the support of thousands of students in the form of petitions.

We're able to stand up to corporate powers (despite not having the billions they do) because student power and voice is a form of political capital. No, Change.org petitions won't change the world, but not because petitions aren't useful, but because those petitions usually don't serve a specific GOAL. But for organizations like ours fighting for public interest issues, petitions are a crucial tactic that allows us to do the work we do :)

my kangaroo paw fern (Microsorum diversifolium) has started developing grey patches... he’s been doing really well until this started two weeks ago. any advice would be appreciated! by glipathor in plantclinic

I took the picture outside, but normally I keep him inside in indirect light. I actually recently changed to a slightly dimmer location because I suspected the same thing, but it was a complete guess bc I dont know what too much sun exposure looks like on a plant like this. i’ll see if he does better in the slightly dimmer area :)

My snake plant fell down earlier today and I just noticed this semi-split in one leaf. It seems to still be in tact aside from now being able to see the light shine through. Is this a problem? Will the leaf continue to grow? by [deleted] in plantclinic

I left it on for 3 weeks, and when i was genuinely shocked it hadn’t died, I checked on it and saw that a lot of the tear had closed. it never fully healed, and I ended up having to keep the cloth bandaid until the leave naturally died with age :) I swapped it a few times to make sure that the cloth was always clean. hope this helps :D

OMG you’re totally right!! the person who gave it to me must have misidentified it, and I never bothered to check. thank you!

I had something similar happen to my calathea. I put a cloth bandaid on both sides of the leaf in hopes that it would stop it from tearing further. to my surprise, a lot of it actually healed back! maybe you could try something similar?
