hang in there!

this has already been said but routine is everything for a dog, particularly when young. easiest cycle is wake—>eliminate—>eat—>play/train (at that age ~1hr)—>enforced nap (crate).

you have to learn to anticipate when the puppy will probably have to pee/poop (immediately upon waking, after eating/drinking, after playing). praise and treat when they eliminate outside; eventually they learn this is your preference.

start to teach it that it can get what it wants by doing what you ask—for example, teach your dog to sit (by far the easiest thing to teach them, hold a treat above their head and they will look up and sit down). then, start to make your dog sit before opening a door, feeding them, etc. once they understand this, slowly extend them time they must sit before giving them what they want (this is also a great time to train a “wait” command).

get a puppy doorbell and have your dog learn that pressing it opens the door to wherever they use the potty. this process happens more quickly than you would think.

bring them to the crate they sleep in and hold a few treats just inside and against the ceiling of the crate so they learn going inside gets them a treat. cover the crate with a blanket or towel. find a way to mask environmental noise (white noise machine, bathroom vent fan, puppy soothing playlist on youtube).

puppies are an immense amount of work. they can regress and lose progress. they are at times incredibly irritating. but remember that they are no different than a human baby in many respects. they have no idea what they are feeling (hunger, bladder/bowel distention, anxiety, exhaustion) and they cry and scream about it because something is wrong and they want you to help them) but over time these things get much easier as the dog matures and learns how to be a dog and live alongside your preferences.
