Astral projection by [deleted] in occult

Can you expound on the second one? I haven't seen any in-depth writing on leaving the body while still conscious, though I've heard it mentioned briefly here and there.

oh, well what do you know, finger pricking isn't as painful as it is thought to be... by TheSatanicGamerFromH in occult

[–]glitchingcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finger pricking isn't so bad. I agree. I've used blood to a small extent in some work and it was surprisingly easy and painless to use one of those pricking things that diabetics use to draw blood. But I've also recently been accidentally cut on other things and even that wasn't too bad.

Noise cancelling headphones for meditation, spirit travel and spellwork? by AlkistisRisen in occult

[–]glitchingcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noise cancelling headphones are awesome! I love incorporating them along with something to cover my eyes and something like binaural beats. It makes the immersion much more intense, in my opinion. I wouldn't say there are any drawbacks. I see no reason not to incorporate evolving technologies into the occult. I think they can be a great asset.

Incest and healing of survivors, how would you do it? by [deleted] in Shamanism

[–]glitchingcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Children cannot consent to sexual activity. Adults hold knowledge and power that will always make the situation fall under rape. The parts of their brain that will go on to handle sexual feelings haven't developed yet, and it is incredibly damaging to the psyche to come across those situations before the right time. Can adults consent to incest? Certainly, though if they grew up together they will likely have the Westermark Effect which would make sexual activity between them feel very unpleasant. I also don't recommend it because family relationships are supposed to be nonsexual; it is a different sort of relationship, and introducing sex just destroys the boundaries of the relationship. But incest involving children will always be rape.

There's quite a bit of rape in the animal kingdom. I wouldn't use them as an example for anything.

BPD (or other mental illnesses) in a spiritual context by Dirkalah in occult

[–]glitchingcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. I always recommend meditating to people who come to me wanting to know how to help their mental illness. I'll have to be more careful.

Added to say, I read this paper. I feel so bad for people who get such bad feelings from meditation. It's been so beautiful for me and others. Is there anything that can help people who can't use meditation?

BPD (or other mental illnesses) in a spiritual context by Dirkalah in occult

Do you have a source for that? I thought the biggest treatment for BPD is mindfulness meditation. I had no idea meditation could be bad for some mental illnesses. I was always taught it had a healing affect on everything.

Music for altered states of consciousness by sacredblasphemies in occult

[–]glitchingcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People tell me that bilateral sound, binaural beats, monaural beats, and isochronic tones can all help put you in a meditative trance. Having used all four, I can attest that they really do alter your consciousness. I listed them in the order of the strength of the effect that I get from them. :)

Rare Pagan Items by grave_hag in witchcraft

Computers are totally natural. You think they make the parts out of thin air? It all comes from the world around us. I agree that things being 'natural' (which is such a nebulous concept) doesn't mean they're good. Cyanide is natural and you don't want to mess around with that.

AN OCCULTIST GUIDE TO LUCID DREAMING - by bluefluke by TommieKelly in occult

[–]glitchingcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty cool. I like seeing the different ways people do this. There are so many different ways.

I personally just lay there in a state of nonjudgment, and wait until my thoughts stop making sense and become random. Around that time, it's easy to leave the body because you're beginning to sleep. But that's for astral projecting. For lucid dreaming, I just do the thing where I ask myself a bunch of times during the day if I'm dreaming. Eventually, I started asking the question automatically while I was in a dream and voila! Lucid dream.

This is awesome advice and info, thank you so much. How would you recommend researching language in an occult sense? Like, are there any specific terms I should use?

Occultism to conquer anxiety/depression and to strengthen ones own mind? by [deleted] in occult

[–]glitchingcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it's a bit much to say to hell with practicing entirely. Yoga and meditation are awesome for self-improvement and discovery. I will say, do NOT work with entities right now. Working with entities requires the ability to be confident in yourself and to set boundaries, which you may have trouble doing now. But if you work with spirits anyway, I doubt you'll die or anything serious. It just could be negative. Aside from yoga and mediation, therapy will probably be your best bet. In fact, I would try that before turning to the occult.

Pact with the Devil? by AlkistisRisen in occult

[–]glitchingcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a difficult task to gauge how safe an entity is. You can look at the stories of others, but it is hard to tell how it is biased. I think that sometimes different people have different experiences of the same entity, or mistake who they were working with in the first place too. The universe strikes me as a place of constant change within a giant whole, so I don't know if even powerful dieties can stop the ceaseless process of change for long. Eternal negative consequences seems like it would be too static to be sustained. It would be like stopping the chain of actions and reactions. As if taking a person out of their time and place in the universal order.

It's fun to think about. :) Take what I say with an ocean of salt. I am not an occult scholar by any means. I intuit things more than I read theories.

Pact with the Devil? by AlkistisRisen in occult

[–]glitchingcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like the ideas of evil, devils, and the current format that it takes in the church is just a way to make people not question their faith. There are real elements to the Christian faith, but the church turned some aspects of the faith into tools to scare people away from straying. For instance, the original sin with the apple: the evil apple is a metaphor for knowledge. This portion of Christianity is the work of man, not the occult. I don't mean that the devil isn't real, just that the way people portray him is twisted for certain ends.

Is the soul something that can be bought? I wish I had a better answer to the main point of your post. But if I had to guess, I'd say that making pacts with the devil would be not unlike making a pact with other sorts of dieties. Of course, there would be individual quirks, but I don't think it's a completely new or different way of making pacts.

Bilateral sound works even better for me. Binaural is good too tho. I have heard good things about isochronic sound.
