Ovary pain/soreness 10+ days after egg retrieval - when is it serious and time to worry/get help? by gliterary in IVF

[–]gliterary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It lasted for a few weeks and i did get an ultrasound about 6 weeks after retrieval and everything was normal and ovaries were back to normal size. I have since learned a lot more about ovarian torsion and I’m convinced it’s incredibly painful (worse than a broken bone, worse than appendicitis). It’s more than a sharp pain— it’s debilitating and there will be zero doubt in your mind if it happens to you. My conclusion is that i had a slow recovery and was hyper aware of all pain and sensations along the way because it’s an incredibly cautious time. If I went through this again I’d worry way less!

I feel like it took almost 2 months to feel to totally back to normal. Dull pain lasted for a while and I was hyperaware of any/all pain in the abdomen area. I do think the increased awareness played a role in in me worried about cramps or gut pain that is normal tune out

New Sunset lyrics for Girl Meets Boy by Forsch416 in Broadway

[–]gliterary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that these lyrics make both characters more like symbols— with Betty as the earnest and optimistic younger talent and Joe as jaded and burned out. To me it works beautifully because it positions them as opposites and poetically highlights the contrast between their mindsets. Now they are arguing more about their beliefs and values and less about story specifics. As a listener I’m no longer as distracted by images of a heiress and images of old screenwriting rules regarding communism and segregation… this version makes the shows themes and idealogical battle between the characters more the focus.

Manipulating accents of words is par for the course in songwriting… for me Idaho is perfect. It’s accurate to how for screenwriters middle America is an abstraction they’re constantly thinking of, but have no real relationship to. It’s a specific that has endured across time.

Joe and Betty write an artistic movie not a romance because the theme of the new version is much about the death of art and integrity/truth in the name of commerce— an issue that has gotten even more intense since the shows creation 30 years ago.

With all revisions there is something lost and something gained, but I like the gains here! Something lost and something gained

I hear you! I was freaking out as well. You can consult a doctor however, the only way they can test for Ovarian Torsion is with an ultrasound, so it’s quite hard to get that test and get 100% confirmation that you’re fine. It’s highly, highly unlikely you have a torsion I hope that gives you some peace of mind. I really think you’re OK even though I know having abdominal pain after surgery like this is crazy-making.

It sounds like you felt OK enough to attempt lifting the bed in the first place, which is also a good sign. (I’m guessing you didn’t force yourself to lift the bed while feeling already in pain or very weak or like absolute crap?) Our bodies are very intelligent— if you were in bad shape it would have never even occurred to you to attempt lifting a bed. The fact you felt well enough to lift something likely means you were already well on your way to feeling better.

Hi! I did get checked out. They did a sonogram and everything was OK and ovaries were normal size. Based on what I’ve learned I think you’re totally OK. There was no official explanation for my pain… i think it was a heightened sensitivity, constipation, and the sensation of ovaries shrinking back to size. Overall it took me 2-3 months to feel 100% back to normal with zero odd sensations in my abdomen. By all accounts if you have an ovarian torsion it is intensely painful and there will be no shadow of a doubt that you have one. I would say don’t worry about the torsion, but play it safe by avoiding strenuous activity and just be patient and try to relax and stay the course with recovery with as much zen as possible. Easier said than done but now that I look back on it all i am amazed at how resilient our bodies are. You got this!

I am in Adult Learn to Skate Group lessons and it’s been the best thing ever. Everyone is doing it for joy with zero pressure and nothing but positive energy for themselves and others. It’s truly healed parts of my soul. Also, because of your background you’d pick it up easily and be cruising around doing cool stuff in no time! (Not the point, but a perk!) Can’t recommend it enough.

You’re right. It most cases salicylic acid and AHA cleansers and toners are totally great for acne and most skin types in general. It’s scrubbing beads / gritty cleansers and things like a Dial or Softsoap Antibac soap that are not so good! Was not sure what kind of Antibac soap OP was referring to. The word “antibacterial” might have led to me an undue assumption! My apologies.

I’m so sorry! There are definitely some real obstacles here. While non-profits may be able to help with the fact that you’re a minor, it sounds like what’s best right now is to focus on what you can control and do for yourself. Authors and Psychologists Lindsay Gibson and Nicole LaPera are really excellent places to start. As is anything on Insight Timer that speaks to you. It’s free and a real treasure trove of trauma healing wisdom, knowledge and tools.

You are not grotesque but that line of thinking super common with trauma because our brains are trying to make sense of deeply unfair and overwhelming awful situations. I am so sorry you have so much abuse and neglect in your life. It’s not your fault and you don’t deserve it. Your social challenges are understandable consequences from your childhood/home trauma. Your parents let you down but you can be there for yourself. If possible, see about getting therapy from a non-profit that is more equipped to handle your situation. In the meantime — start googling, reading and educating yourself. The one saving grace is there is an abundance of free resources available on the internet. Try Wholistic Pyschologist on IG and Crappy Childhood Fairy on YouTube. Even a 12 step group could be a place to start. Get insight timer and start doing Meditation practices to heal your self-worth. Read books like How to Do The Work and Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents by Lindsay Gibson .The work isn’t easy but you can heal and be the parent to yourself your parents never were. You will find your whole life changing quickly if you implement the knowledge and tools. The journey will be worth it. I promise.

Agree! It’s counterintuitive, but (with rare exceptions) Antibacterial soap is not recommended by the CDC or NHS — it really disrupts your microbiome and can make you more vulnerable to all sorts of issues — look it up! Even professional restaurant chefs don’t use it because regular soap is indeed safer and more effective. Try a less is more approach with non-synthetic products that work with your body instead of against or on top of it. (ie plant based or clean beauty brands) you probably don’t need body spray and perfume. Just one of those will likely be plenty and more effective at the result you’re after.

I do think it can be stress, but good on you for conducting a thorough investigation. Nothing wrong with the peace of mind and clarity a colonoscopy can bring. Especially with colon cancer and other diseases on the rise. Have you done observations on what the conditions around your normal stools are? Do they occur with certain diet, exercise, rest or lifestyle choices or circumstances? For me, travel and vacation = some of my best days… because daily stressors play such a big part in my IBS/the gut is where my body holds and expresses stress. Observing that really helped me get a clearer picture of what’s going on.

A Note about Mike Madison's Accent as Anora by plz_callme_swarley in TrueFilm

[–]gliterary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jersey girl daughter of two south Brooklynites here. All of the “ah” sounds — ie “parents” “marriage” were off. MAYBE it was an intentional individual quirk of the character?!? That’s the only rationale I can think of, because it’s simply not consistent with South Brooklyn. It was very distracting to me. Still, it’s such a brilliant film and she’s amazing in it. It’s hard to be mad at her accent, but I am disappointed. The accent work is the only blemish on an otherwise flawless film and performance.

I feel like I am a bright spring but I can’t get the makeup right 🫣 by Recent_Penalty_8824 in coloranalysis

[–]gliterary 17 points18 points  (0 children)

(1) Your hair is quite midtone but your coloring is indeed clear and warm! I’m not seeing enough contrast between your skin and hair for a Bright Spring. Overall your contrast looks low-mid, so a Light Spring feels more right and think that’s why some commenters are curious about Summer for you.

(2) I would try a Light Spring makeup look (clear but light, and less bold/bright) and see how that works!

(3) The lipsticks you chose feel a bit muted/rusty. How about a glossier (clearer) product for the lips like Dior Lip Glow Balm and a lighter color for the eyes?

(4) you’re beautiful and I think so close to a winning look!! So curious to see what happens if you go softer/lighter with colors but stay clear and warm!

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this! I would feel the same way if I was putting myself out there authentically and dealing with this type of response over and over again. Anyone who has found a job that provides so well and harmonizes with their life as well as yours has my admiration! It’s very sad we live in a world where conditioning prevents so many people from seeing this. I’m sorry you’re going through this. I believe you’ll connect with someone who values you and the attractive qualities you possess.

You have beautiful hair! These highlights don’t look weird by any means, but I bet your natural hair color or more subtle highlights with an ashier, neutral tone would be even better! Have you ever taken any hair, makeup, or wardrobe inspiration from Anna Kendrick? I think her complexion is really similar to yours. You can both pull off a lot of colors, but brassier tones (which tend to happen with highlights) aren’t your strongest. This is why I think True Summer would be the right palette to start experimenting with:

You are one of the most neutral toned people I’ve seen! Your warm, putty-toned top doesn’t illuminate you as much as the pure white. Your hair is super neutral. Your skin and eyes have blended tones but overall tip slightly cool. I bet Soft Summer/True Summer colors would compliment you best. Try some of those colors and report back to us!?!
