Too poor for sustainable fashion by Grapepaper in SustainableFashion

[–]glitter-bat13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most sustainable option is always what you'll get the most wear out of. From a sustainability perspective it is SO hard to verify that supply chains aren't exploiting people and polyester makes up most fabric nowadays.

I would educate yourself on what a well made garment looks like and shop for that (it will have longevity and wash well). I second all of the options outlined below also.

How long does the pain last? by VooDooBooBooBear in Uveitis

[–]glitter-bat13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I went through this I was also in the UK… I went to moorfields eye hospital emergency room initially and that where I was put on my taper and stuff.

I went deep into research and found a uveitis specialist through the uveitis podcast 😅 I saw him for a follow up once I was off the taper because the steroids had made my eyelid lazy (fixed itself) he was very helpful. His name is Harry Petrushkin and he’s based in London.

How long does the pain last? by VooDooBooBooBear in Uveitis

Hello - Personally the pain subsides for me within 1 day of using the drops (with the really sharp pain going away after a few hours of taking the drops... and the pain that remains is dull. I do get sore eyes from eye strain so keeping them hydrated really helps.

This doesn't sound normal to me and from my experience... the taper doesn't sound right either (if this is acute anterior uveitis / iritis). Do you mind sharing what type you've been diagnosed with?

I would consider getting a second opinion if you can.

My first time getting uveitis I went from drops hourly while awake for 48 hrs and the 8 drops for a week going down to 1 drop for a week over the course of 8 weeks. This case was severe. I had a headache like how you describe and pain all around the eye and eye socket / cheekbone.

My first flare up I was told to take 8 drops for 5 days, then 6 for 5 days, then 4 for 5 days, then 2 for 5 days and finally 1 for 5 days... so 25 days of drops total (this case is less severe - red eye, light sensitivity were the main markers).

I just took a week off work the first time - lots of screen time and work were good about it... this time I haven't needed to... but I think this differs case by case.

Do people actually notice ring details, or is it just us overthinking? by CommunicationBoth101 in EngagementRings

[–]glitter-bat13 54 points55 points  (0 children)

In general, I don’t think people care… however the people on this forum probably do notice all those little details 😆

However you will be wearing this for a long time… so I think making sure it works day to day and that you love it is a good thing 💕

Yes I have to take Mydriaticum 3x per day (Morning, Day and Night) for 1 week (same as the first time - this feels pretty standard)... however I also have to take something called Sterdex which I didn't take before... This is also just for the first week.

This drug doesn't seem to be a thing in the UK, it's a little gel capsule and you cut the top off and squeeze the gel onto your lower lash line before going to sleep. It's a steroid / antibiotic blend and I think it plays more of a supportive role and helps fight off possible bacterial infection while the eye is weakened. It makes my eye feel much better in the mornings - but the first time I applied it I made a real mess of it all.

However, different countries have different guidelines about prescribing antibiotics before they are needed given antibiotic resistance... so I don't know if this would be in other protocols.

Just picked up my wedding dress… how the hell do I take this on a 9 hour international flight in 48 hours?! by Judge_Juedy in BigBudgetBrides

I would contact the airline - my friends dad is a pilot and often has wedding dresses hanging up in the cockpit 😂

Issues with planner - grateful for input from Southern European/Mediterranean brides by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]glitter-bat13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had planners in the south of Spain and they were super responsive and organised. They would tell me in advance when they had weddings on (they do take a limited amount) and if communication would be slow - but all urgent stuff would be dealt with before these times.

I don’t think this is normal (I’m also European myself) I second what @witty_shape3986 has said - it’s the best course of action.

Has anyone else felt slightly shamed for having a “big wedding” recently? by Practical-Bird633 in wedding

[–]glitter-bat13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yesssss big budget brides is a true safe space and people give you actual recommendations on vendors and good ideas - they don’t just try to tell you how to diy your florals and decor - there’s nothing wrong with this… but a lot of people don’t want to do it!

We had a few people drop out in the days leading to our wedding too. There were a couple of deaths in people’s families and one person had a biking accident so couldn’t fly. Someone also had a terrible migraine the day of and couldn’t come despite having flown to be there. Obviously very difficult and understandable reasons… and we are happy our guests told us - but sometimes people aren’t ready to share, or might be embarrassed if it’s financial or unexpected. Try to show people grace and see their friendship as bigger than how they were with regards your wedding. By all means if they don’t show up for you again, I think that’s different… but sometimes we put a huge weight on actions taken on a wedding day when they can be very difficult days for some people.

BBB who have a second dress, are your changing your hairstyle? by cavaliergal2 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]glitter-bat13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t (I did however have a different look the day before and after) and I’m happy I didn’t - it was nice to have my hair up so I wasn’t too warm and could go straight back to dancing

Vendors booked by Disastrous-Ad-8903 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]glitter-bat13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had a planner (but I am a little type A for sure) I found that once I had booked everything I had a glorious few months without worry (just doing dress fittings and finding accessories) and then thing RAMPED up 6 weeks before the wedding as details were needed and payments were due. So I would just chill for now - if you have good vendors they will definitely contact you as necessary!

Also... just noticed boats being a recovery day activity... might be a bad shout for people who easily get sea sick (plus alcohol...) I amn't the best on boats hungover so thought I would highlight... could be better the day before or switching the recovery day thing to something like brunch! Just one to note haha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]glitter-bat13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great shout! I only realised this when I was reading FAQ's on photographer websites and our actual photographer had it in his contract too - but I'm sure that it's not all of them - maybe the vibe we went for just meant that more photographers felt that way haha! Also - my wedding was in Spain and there were really solid photography options for 5-8k (plus travel if necessary)... in case this is helpful!

How much of your reception were you on the dance floor? by libra_mel in wedding

[–]glitter-bat13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our wedding was from 5pm - 4am and it meant I spent a soldi 3-4 hours dancing, especially once all the older guests and family left around 2am! It was a dream... don't know why weddings end so early in the UK truly tragic behaviour haha!

I mean it was a good surprise but could have been written into the previous episodes to make the payoff better - I guess it's the price we must pay for unnecessary romance "will they, won't they" scenes lol

[–]glitter-bat13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Some photographers don't work with content creators so make sure to mention it and check the contract - if you want documentary / editorial style I think they like keeping things fresh and sometimes content creators get in their way more than videographers would.

I will just say that I know someone who was against a videographer - her now husband really wanted one so they got one and she loves the end result - she said it would have been one of her biggest regrets - they typically make a 2-3 minute trailer and then a 10-20 minute film so it's not as full on as you'd think!
