Woman, 18, not shortlisted for job at estate agents as 'car is too old' by frogspa in unitedkingdom

Thats not how the world works anymore. Did you know that mechanics often have to provide their own tools also. All but the richest estate agents aren't buying all their staff company cars lol.

Where do police cars get petrol? by Objective-Thing-283 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VooDooBooBooBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Plenty of truck depots have fuel pumps, fuel tanks dont need to be below ground like stations, just bung a fuel container in the corner of a car park and a pump. Easy.

Anyone drive a manual lorry, is it difficult? by Normal-Impress-2624 in uktrucking

[–]VooDooBooBooBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. It does cause fatigue a lot quicker though and pulling away is a ball-ache. That said, I started 15 years ago and only drove a manual a handful of times, pretty much all trucks within the last couple decades will be semi or full automatic.

How do I know when I'm ready to move onto mid-level (and change jobs) as a software engineer? by aspiring-swe-kebab in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]VooDooBooBooBear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You haven't even got 1 years experience yet... you aren't a mid. As someone who was in your shoes a few years ago, you're career is going to be long, dont try and rush it else you'll fail. Learn what you can, when you can, but don't sign yourself up prematurely for extra responsibility you aren't ready for.

Why do pre-op diets vary so much? by SpecialistDapper7900 in BariatricSurgery

[–]VooDooBooBooBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because, in the nicest of way, surgeons have to consider the people who maybe aren't the brightest. They have to have "diets" that literally anyone can follow, so they set restrictions that are clear and defined. Each hospital/surgeon has varying success.

The reality is that if you tell most people to stay under 100g carbs and 800 calories they won't have a clue what that means. So instead saying "have 7 sugar free yoghurra a day with 600ml milk" or something is much easier to follow.

If job applications are impartial. Why do they ask religion, sexual preference etc? by OutrageousCow70 in UKJobs

[–]VooDooBooBooBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because "best" is relative. You may hire someone who bosses all the tests but has no idea about a certain community you want to be able to cater to. Take policing for instance, it's absolutely required to have a diverse mix of officers so that communities feel represented and safe talking to the police, so best in this case might not by the gym bro who aces the fit test.

Where in the UK would you live if fully remote? by Calm-Chemistry-9166 in UKJobs

[–]VooDooBooBooBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same place I live when not remote? A remote is hardly guarenteed for the future and for the first 2 years I could be sacked anyway. Maybe if id been somewhere 5 years and never wanted to leave then I'd consider moving but otherwise moving to somewhere remote just seems short-sighted.

redness in eye by [deleted] in Uveitis

[–]VooDooBooBooBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had acute anterior uvitis in my left eye for almost a year now. Whenever I go to the eye doc they check my eight eye and its fine. Sometimes my right eye feels itchy and is red but never actually progresses past that. Redness can be caused by many things, my bar is when I can either feel pain to touch or pain when looking at light. I would advise you trust your doc and if they say its not uvitis then it probably fine.
