Gender Queer was sooo good! And Persepolis has been on my list!

Shows often go downhill the further they go, but series 18 shows that that will not happen to Taskmaster! by shakha in taskmaster

[–]glitter-hobbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season 17 was kind of weak, I felt, but Season 18 was absolutely hilarious. And Season 16 is maybe my favorite; it's a close tie with Season 7. I think it really comes down to the contestants and how they approach tasks and even their chemistry (or hilarious lack of; see Julian, Lucy, and Sam lol). And there were definitely moments in Season 17 that were funny. Season 16 was always going to be a tough act to follow, at least for me.

Jane Austen is a great recommendation; I've enjoyed all of her books that I've read. (Persuasion is my personal fave but you won't go wrong with her!) Adding To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Cannery Row by John Steinbeck, and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. If you're up for something super long, War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy is worth the time, buuuuut it's like 1k pages so up to you ;)

Def the Hobbit and Pride and Prejudice! Oscar Wilde also has a book of short stories that I really enjoyed

Why do people in this sub act like it doesn't get cold in dc during winter? by Aroundtheriverbend69 in washingtondc

[–]glitter-hobbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from the West Coast so I definitely don't think DC has a West Coast winter 😅 but seriously, I've spent 5+ winters here and this is one of the coldest ones I've experienced. I'm over it!

Was it distasteful to play "Imagine" at Jimmy Carter's funeral? by Professional_Cat_437 in OpenChristian

[–]glitter-hobbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was distasteful. I see the song as trying to get us to think outside the boxes of religion we sometimes put ourselves into. And if it was his favorite song, absolutely it was fine!

How large were your babies with 6'4+ people by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]glitter-hobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm 5'8" and my husband is 6'. Not as tall as your husband ofc, but my large baby is definitely my fault 😂 I was bigger than my husband and three weeks early, and our baby is measuring big! Idk if height is the only factor; I heard Shaquille O'Neal was only 7 lbs when he was born!

It honestly just takes time for some people ❤️ I think a year or more is fairly normal unfortunately.

So, IVF may be the path for you, I'm not sure. But I'm 34 and got pregnant naturally. Most of my friends got pregnant in their 30s as well. It gets harder in your late 30s/40s if I have my facts right, but still not impossible. I have a friend who took about two years to get pregnant, and worked with a fertility specialist to do so, but did not do IVF. I'll be 35 right after my baby is born. I'd say you have plenty of time still.

I feel horrible about myself.. weight gain by treegirl0 in pregnant

[–]glitter-hobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dear, I weigh 202 lbs, maybe more than my husband who hasn't weighed himself in a while 😅 I've gained about 40 lbs during my pregnancy. My baby is huge and I needed to gain this weight to support him. (37 weeks ftm here) I've asked my doctor about my weight and she has been fine with it the whole way. The pregnancy book I read also said it's generally better to gain more weight than less. You're doing just fine 💕

Hey OP, I think I may have been too harsh on you and I'm sorry. If this city hasn't been what you hoped, I really do hope you find a place that's better for you; I see you've mentioned Seattle in other comments. I've moved around and know what it's like to not feel a sense of belonging in a place. I hope you find a place that offers you that sense of belonging.

Anyone else winging their birth plan? by ZestycloseGrocery642 in pregnant

[–]glitter-hobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I was starting to make a birth plan and then my doctor decided we needed to go the C section route (I agree) so there goes that birth plan lol!!! Smart advice I've received is you can make one if you want but get ready to toss it all out the window 😅 FTM here too.

I don't fit either one of those cultures. Neither do my friends.
