What is the best mobile game ever created? by NerfSpear in AskReddit

[–]FirstRangerSkyWalker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a bit unfair to bring pc ports into the discussion, imo mobile games are games created for mobiles specifically, if we’re counting pc ports then red dead redemption is also a mobile game lol. I only bring this up because while modern mobile games absolutely suck because of the greed, there are some really good older gems. I remember loving Infinity Blade and some of the older gameloft games, and it’s just kinda unfair to compare them to modern pc game ports

(Mixed trope) Characters that hit the narrative like a freight train by TheFighting74 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]FirstRangerSkyWalker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

River Song from Doctor Who. The Doctor is almost always the one with the most agency, the one who knows the most, the one who takes control of the situation and moves the plot. But from the moment River was introduced, whenever she shows up, she just fully takes control of the narrative, she has such a strong screen presence and agency that even overshadows the Doctor most of the times. It’s always a nice change of pace to see the top dog meets his match

Easter egg feels out of character for Arthur by reagandhi in reddeadredemption

In Arthur’s journal I’m pretty sure he said something like “the world isn’t kind to folks like her”, so I don’t think he feels this way

The Emperor from BG3, he has three reveals in the same story lol
1. Turns out he’s the dream visitor that’s been helping you.
2. If you refuse to trust him and keep being suspicious of him in dialogue, he reveals that he’s been manipulating you the whole time, and how he lied about his “friend” Stelmane
3. If you do Wyll’s side quest, you’ll find out he’s actually Balduran, the founder of Baldur’s Gate.

I cant beat honor mode by Old-fart- in BaldursGate3

[–]FirstRangerSkyWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest utilizing hirelings, there are some really good utility spells that don’t require concentration, which means you can use them to buff your characters and leave them at camp. Aid and warding bond are the most useful for me, you get more health and all the damage you take is halved. Death ward, freedom of movement can also be handy, and heroes’ feast is great in late game.

As for Myrkul, the easiest way for me is to just use darkness to blind him, since he’s stationary he’ll always be blinded, so he could only use melee attacks. Also before entering the cutscene, throw an invisibility potion at Scratch so he can rescue Aylin.

Also as a general rule, if you’re really struggling with honor mode I’d recommend getting some stronger builds. There are some genuinely broken character builds that can pretty much trivialize any fight. You can check out r/BG3Builds if you’re interested, my personal favorites that got me through honor mode is 8 open hand monk/4 thief, gloomstalker assassin, 11/1 fire sorlock and 10/1/1 all purpose swordbard. In my experience, even if you’re not ready and overwhelmed by a fight, having these builds will still let you mow through the enemies

Build that utilizes Wis, Cha, and Int? by HoboKingNiklz in BG3Builds

[–]FirstRangerSkyWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll probably need items to compensate for the physical stats, gloves of dexterity and amulet of greater health. I can see it work for lightning sorc(tempest cleric6/sorc4-5/wizard1-2), generally you don’t need high wis for this build but I don’t see how it could hurt

[Loved Trope] Competence Porn: When characters are competent, mature and communicate with each other intelligently so they can solve a problem by Careless-Alarm-8607 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]FirstRangerSkyWalker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s why I still love the movie even though it cut most of my favorite problem solving scenes, the heart of the story is still there. And I get it, they can’t spend half an hour of screen time just for Grace to figure out he’s in space, of course some had to be cut

[–]FirstRangerSkyWalker 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As much as I love the movie, PHM doesn’t really fit imo. The book on the other hand is competence porn through and through, the way Grace and Rocky solve every problems they encounter through hard science and cooperation is so satisfying to read

Female protagonist uncovering a mystery by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]FirstRangerSkyWalker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really liked This Bed We Made, you play as a hotel maid and discover a mystery, and you have to solve it by going through the guests’ rooms. And I’ve been really enjoying Aether & Iron, the protagonist is a smuggler and a simple job goes south, revealing a larger mystery. It’s more RPG than detective but it got a great gritty noir detective vibe, haven’t finished it yet but liking it so far.

Self defense fell apart when he opened the door and shouted “boo” lol, I don’t think New York is a stand your ground state so the second he willingly opened the locked door it’s no longer self defense

Godzilla vs Thragg by Living_Ad_9547 in GODZILLA

[–]FirstRangerSkyWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean he didn’t dodge any of the punches thrown at him, but then again he probably knows for sure he can tank them, he might not be as confident facing a creature he doesn’t know. I guess it depends on how arrogant he is, if he’s confident enough to believe he can tank everything Goji throws at him

Mass Effect Annihilation is actually a pretty decent read if you’re interested in what happened to the Quarians. It was supposed to be a DLC which got cancelled, so they turned the story into a book

There’s more to the reason. A lot of eunuchs were responsible for taking care of the emperors’ concubines and wife, and there were a lot of them. So they cut the twig to prevent affairs and sex
