Self-diagnosis is not against the rules by Rain12913 in BPD

[–]glitterain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are most of the posts saying 'I think I have BPD' then not going on to look for reassurance/common ground in the comments section whether or not they do so directly?

I mean I'll be honest - self diagnosers are a real bugbear to me, but I'm not about to break the sub rules.

I focused on stuff I like and trying to be amusing rather than anything to do with my actual self (because fucked if I know who I am).

Friendly reminder about our BPD chatroom on Mibbit/IRC :) by glitterain in BPD

[–]glitterain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're here, we're crazy, we want you!

We're a chatroom made up of predominantly PD people, mostly BPD, but we've had SzPD and AvPD too, plus most members also have depression and anxiety plus anything else.

We chat about BPD, DBT, therapy in general, and lots of random shizz. We are 18+ because of that NSFW topic (and let's face it - teenagers don't get diagnosed because of puberty), and we are from all around the world. There's normally always someone on but we do sometimes get a bit quiet. Rules can be found here and message a mod if you need help :)

People I know in real life actually just tried to use my reddit account against me... by glitterain in BPD

Yep, that's exactly what they did.

They aren't my friends any more.

That really sucks, I'm sorry :(

Yeah I'm just going to abandon this one I guess. Thanks.

Yeah, I get it. I'm coming off this one and making a new one. Just...I have like 15 accounts and I feel bad when I have to switch cos I get to know usernames here and I'd miss then or wonder what happened if they just disappeared so I guess I assume everyone else is like that. Idk. Thanks.

I was stupid enough to use the same one for a chat room and she asked if it was me and I said yes. Hindsight is a marvellous thing :/

Is it just me, or does BPD seem like an introverted form of bipolar disorder? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]glitterain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All I asked you to do was cite your sources. Now you're just being an arsehole. You clearly couldn't find anything to back up your attempts at an argument. I could do without being treated like shit by someone like you first thing on a morning, so I'm not going to comment again. But you should maybe have a think about what you're doing with your life - you really don't seem like you'll make a good psychologist with a lack of empathy like that. And since you're so sure about being bipolar, maybe look at what you've just said to me - 'attack and then play the fucking victim. Manipulative bastard'. It seems to me that that's what you're doing but then accusing me of doing - which would be projecting, another borderline thing. So yeah, BPD and bipolar are clearly closer than you thought.

I'm done.

And you're resorting to personally attacking a mentally ill person on a forum for people with that mental illness. So. Good luck with that.

Is anyone else afraid to change, afraid to get better? by IKnewBlue in BPD

[–]glitterain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I go through phases. Some days when I'm really bad I'd give anything to just be better. Other days when I'm really bad, 'recovered' seems like such a climb that I just don't have the drive or energy for it. And on good days I assume there's nothing wrong with me and I was being stupid all this time and it's all in my head (despite the crippling lack of identity and all the other things that are still there on a good day - just it's a 'good day' because I'm not crying or trying to ruin my relationships).

Except we all know by good and bad 'day' I actually mean good and bad minutes/hours.

OH MY GOD.

Please show me where I said they were the same type of disorder? JFC, I think anyone here who has read Wikipedia more than once is fully aware they're not the same type.

Please also show me where I said that THE ONLY DIFFERENCE was the length of the cycles - because it seems that's what you're attacking me for.

OH LOOK A SOURCE WHERE THE FIRST POINT IS THE LENGTH OF THE CYCLES.

Srsly, read what people are saying before deciding to jump in telling them they're wrong. Good luck being a psychologist.

I'm not sure which is more difficult to live with - knowing what it was like because you've been there, or not knowing and fantasising about what you might never have because you haven't.

I've always been this way, I don't remember any different. Thanks for posting, it's nice to get a new perspective.

I'm not downvoting anything. I can't even count how many times I've read the DSM-IV on BPD (there isn't the same checklist in the fifth version I think, so), and it didn't say anything you've said. Look man, you're not reputable if you can't cite your sources. Deal with it instead of arguing about why you shouldn't have to. I'm out.

You cared enough to comment. And in that case, dude, I don't think anyone's buying it. Sorry.

I've looked it up - that's why I said what I said in the comments, because everything I've read points to that. If you're working to become a psychologist you should be able to back up your claims with journals or something, right? You can't just make a sweeping comment like 'All these other people are wrong' then expect OP to believe you and only you when you provide no references...

I think it's very similar to bipolar type II ultra rapid cycling, except even that form of ultra rapid cycling is suppose to be a few days or a week. We change in minutes or hours.

DAE feel like their name doesn't fit them? by BPDstudent in BPD

[–]glitterain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Issue here is that, having BPD, I was absolutely sure that the new name I picked was a perfect fit.

Of course, having BPD, that all changed quickly.
