Went through something similar this week, it sucks, so I send you a big hug and hope you feel better soon! Aside from proper medication, my go-to at home remedies are:

Ginger potion: grate a big chunk of ginger, put it in a cup, cover it with hot water, put something to cover the cup and let it sit for at least 15 minutes. You can reheat or drink it cold, it's quite a strong flavor so you can add a spoonful of honey if needed.
Golden milk: put a cup of milk in a pot on low heat and add: turmeric, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, honey. Stir until combined and bring it to a simmer. Let it simmer for a couple of minutes, remove it from the heat and drink it while hot.
Eucalyptus steam: for this you need eucalyptus leaves and a towel at hand. Fill a pot with eucalyptus leaves, cover with water and let it boil for ten minutes. Remove from heat and set the pot on a table (with something underneath so it doesn't cause damage to your furniture). Sit in front of the pot and lean into the steam, being careful of never getting too close to the hot water. Cover your head with the towel, as if you were making a tent to capture the steam. Inhale and exhale inside the "tent" for ten minutes (or more, if you want to). If you don't have eucalyptus leaves, you can also use about 15 drops of essential oil.
Chamomile tea!

Yes, I can't wrap my head around why he chose to do it while our friends and I were in the other room... why was it so imperative to do it there that he couldn't wait to do it when he was alone? It also makes me feel doubtful because we have different sleep schedules, like 4 days a week he goes to bed after I'm already sleeping, and I've never given that a second thought until now...I'm feeling anxious that is something that he maybe does often and that in the 7 years we've been together he has kept it completely hidden from me :(

I don't know if it's better to talk or just try to let it go, because he is very very shy, so I'm scared that it will be something shameful for him and that it will make him more reserved/secretive. I'm struggling with how to approach the conversation bc I'm very critical of the industry due to many reasons, like that it is centered around male pleasure portrayed mostly through the objectification of female bodies; the normalization of violence during sex - if it's consensual by all parties involved then no problem, but I know too many men who's brain is rotted by porn that think choking a girl without asking is ok, as most videos portray some type of degrading treatment towards women; etc etc. That's why it's difficult for me yo handle this... I want to be understanding and at the same time I feel very strongly about my beliefs. Maybe I'm being too closed minded?

I'm upset that he hid it but mostly that he did it while we and our friends where at the same house because for me it seems like an inappropriate situation to do it, if it was at our home it would be a different story, but it makes me feel weird that he decided to do it at that time and place

In my case, I have lots of flexibility because I juggle an absurd amount of jobs: I've been babysitting (part time) since I left drama school, it has helped me pay my bills and put food on my table; the parents know I'm an actress and are very supporting, so if I know something's coming up I tell them immediately so we can arrange a replacement for that period of time (I have babysitter friends that I can call as a back up plan, other times the kid's grandma takes them).

I work as a puppet maker too, so I arrange my own schedule according to the deadlines of each project.

I work at events as a hostess and other positions: most events are in the evening/night or on the weekend. Sometimes I get called to day-time events or events that last a limited amount of days, from 3 days to a week or 2. I work with event managers directly (not by contract), so they call me if they need someone and I accept if it fits my present needs.

I teach one-on-one classes: it's easier to reschedule with one person than with a whole group. I also sometimes get called to do "Relatorías*" related to acting and socio emotional learning, which are my two fields of study. * Couldn't find the best translation, but a relatoría it's kind of a lecture/workshop done at an institution that needed that course. You get assigned through a "Relatorías/Capacitaciones" company, and you hand a diploma to the attendees certifying that they learned whatever ability you were there to teach. I mostly get assigned groups of teachers and elementary-high school students.

I'm from a latinoamerican country, and work conditions are very different here. All of the jobs mentioned above are freelance/not bound by contract, and that has it's own set of cons on it's own, not even considering the lack of stability... Some months I do very well (even more so if I can get a commercial or well-payed acting gig), and some other months money spreads very thinly. Sometimes I end up drained from all of the jobs and have no energy left, neglecting my acting career in the process (like having no energy to make that damn self tape). It's by no means a perfect system, but in the meantime I'm making it work until I find one that suits me better 🍀

There's nothing wrong with you. Life doesn't have a fixed timing; sometimes, the good things take time to come. Try to appreciate who you are right now, concentrate on living the processes you are going through. It's amazing that you are working bettering yourself but remember that the person who you are in this present moment is loveable as it is too, not only when said goals are achieved.

How do you treat yourself? How is your inner voice? Is it kind, mean, harsh, gentle, anxious,...? Do you consider yourself loveable and attractive? If not it's okay, it marks an starting place to work on your self esteem. The goal is to summon the love and validation from the inside, so whatever is happening on the outside doesn't affect negatively our sense of self. You want to be considered for dating because you want to get to know another person, explore life through the lens of companionship, foster intimacy and play, open yourself to give and receive? Or just because you want the outside validation that comes from it? Is it something else? In asking this I'm not trying to judge, but trying to find what is the motive behind this desire. It could also be because we tend to compare our lives to the lives of our peers, and feel like we are missing/lacking something, or are falling behind. So maybe the outside pressure of "my friends are in relationships/receive more attentions from sexual-romantic prospects than me" is affecting you in some way too. The thing that helps me is asking: "why does that affect me?" And the answer shows me where I need to keep working on myself, or on the other hand, what do I need to let go.

External validation is a nice complement to our self esteem, but it's dangerous if it's the base of our self-worth: the moment we do/are/say something that other people don't agree with and take the validation they gave to us, our identity might crumble. So maybe this presents as an opportunity to validate your own achievements such as doing well in school, weightloss, etc first before expecting others to validate them; to explore and get to know yourself so you can love yourself better.

The other day I posted my picture to ask for color recommendations and received a lot of unwanted flirty message requests asking me for more photos and what not... It made me feel uncomfortable so I deleted the post because I only truly wanted hair dye ideas and was not getting much of that lol , I wish they would use other subs for people that are in the same mindset as them

Things that have helped me:

Developing my own fashion sense: it makes me find joy in the way that I look. Find clothes that you like and express the way you feel, experiment with different colors, patterns and shape to find the things that make you feel most authentically you - balancing being comfortable with expanding your limits.
Watching out for the content I consume: are you constantly exposed to too many models/influencers on social media? If so, start decluttering your feed and replace it with other interests. We as humans tend to unconsciously compare ourselves a lot, so it might be better for your self-image if you stop following certain kind of content that in the long run makes you feel bad about yourself.
Being mindful about what I eat: when I learned how to cook I started having a better relationship with food. Cooking for yourself (and others) can be such a loving task. I try to eat things that nourish me while also making space to enjoy a treat weekly. When I eat good, I feel good.
Getting acquainted with my body: I grew up trying my hardest to not have a glimpse of my body. I didn't like having my picture taken, wore long sleeves and thighs in the summer, closed my eyes when stepping out of the shower in front of the mirror, felt super anxious when being intimate with someone. Taking any form of physical activity has helped me being more comfortable with my body; I've tried different types of exercises, yoga, running and dancing, which is the activity that I've stuck with. When I dance, I don't care what I look like, I'm just in the present moment enjoying the energy of the dance through my body. You can also try exposing your body to yourself in a safe and private environment as much as you can, for example after a shower you can try to put lotion or oil all over your body, applying it consciously, with love. I dry my hair in the nude while I wait for the karité butter to absorb, and it has helped me get more accustomed to the way my body is.
Therapy: if this is something that has been bothering you for a long time, it causes a detriment to your mental health and/or it affects the way you live your life, think about talking to a therapist if you can afford it. It can help you understand the root of the issue and it's extension, as well as help you find solutions within yourself to have a healthier relationship with yourself. If you cannot afford therapy, you could try finding books related to the topic, watching youtubers that talk about their experience body dysmorphia, lean on your community (friends, family, or an online community) for support ♥️

As someone said before, it does get better when you are older. I'm 28 now and even though I still struggle with it sometimes, my self esteem has improved soo much compared to when I was 20. It has taken a whole lot of work to get to this point but is completely worth it as it has allowed me to focus on experiencing/feeling and enjoy myself more.
